Information
All ABS black high density plastic. No metal parts. Will not rust in Saltwater. Rated for City Water Pressure and will mount in sump, hard plastic pond or garbage can. (Kent Marine Part No. FVKENT)
The FVKENT is an all plastic float valve for controlling water levels in a reservoir. Body is ABS plastic with food grade neoprene gaskets and seals. It contains no metal parts. Mounting requires drilling a 5/8" hole about 1" above the desired water level. The FVKENTmounts like a bulkhead through this hole. It has 1/4" male NPT threads and comes fitted with an adapter compression fitting for 1/4" tubing connection. Adjustment for water level can be made on the side of the FVKENT over a range of about + or - 1 inch. This valve can handle pressures up to 90 psi.
Note: Not recommended for level control in aquariums.

This valve worked great for about one year on a 55G drum that my RODI unit feeds. The source water from the city varies from 30-50 PSI and goes into my RODI unit. The RODI output water feeds this valve in a 55G drum. It’s a pretty typical setup really. I’m really glad I keep my drum on a concrete floor near a floor drain because this valve failed miserably and the drum overflowed all over the floor for 12 hours or more before I caught it. I was really disappointed because the only other thing in the drum is a heater in the bottom to keep the water at temperature. I haven’t pulled the float out yet to see what happened but it appears the float itself lost buoyancy or filled with water and just hung straight down and never came up. There is nothing stopping the arm from moving. This is pretty disappointing because the drum sat with a garbage can lid on it for a year and is on totally level ground on cinder blocks. It wasn’t like it was being disturbed or anything. I need a replacement, but I’m not sure if I’ll go with the same one.

Expensive but worth it, bought cheaper one thinking i could get by but already starting to see rust on thier metal parts, (use for NSW mix tanks). Dont skimp get the right product the first time, in all i have three of these on my system and dont have to fill any buckets of water, everything stays at right level.

I'm not usually a Kent brand fan but these are well built float valves. I've had one running in my sump for about 3 years now on my auto top off with zero problems. I've got a sensor with a shut off switch above it should it fail but it hasn't yet.

I've been using one of these for over a year, connected to a bladder tank, to provide topoff water to my sump. I just bought my second one to use the same way in a second tank.
It's not perfect, and it's not foolproof - but then, almost no ATO setup is. The first one I bought began to leak at the plastic seam after six months, and the bulb started to fill with water - and the water level in the sump started to rise. I drilled a little hole in the bulb, squeezed all the water out, sealed up the seam and the hole I'd drilled, and was off to the races again.
The good thing is, if it fails, it will generally fail very slowly (much like the float valve in a toilet) and you'll have time to notice the high water level in the sump and take action.
I have never had any salt build up on mine. Not sure how that could happen, with fresh water flowing out through it all the time. Also, contrary to what one review said, DO DRILL THE HOLE LIKE THE INSTRUCTIONS SAY. One inch up from where the waterline will be. And, if you do happen to drill it too high, you can rubber-band a piece of styrofoam to the bottom of the float which will make the water level run lower.
Like I said, it ain't perfect, but I trust it enough to have bought my second one. So ...

Simple, yet I couldnt ask for more. I am not using this float valve in amarine/pond set up but a reptile vivarium set up. I run a misting system that uses a resevoir. My lazy butt didnt want to manually have to fill the bucket ever so often, so an ice maker line kit, a bucket and the float valve, I am loving it.Float valve, Simple to install, compact and works great. And very affordable.
