Lifegard Aquatics 25 W Replacement Bulb 175230

Pure hard quartz material in the bulb dramatically increases UV output compared to other conventional bulbs of equal wattage. Pure quartz material resists solarization and improves the longevity of the bulb. Unique test tube style pure hard quartz sleeve isolates the bulb from water contact preventing thermal shock, broken glass and mercury contamination of the aquarium. This quartz sleeve isolates the bulb to provide an optimal bulb maximum UV operating temperature of 100°F (38°C). This higher bulb temperature increases UV output 35% over conventional units without sleeves. Bulb changing is the easiest in the industry. Simply slide the old bulb out and slide the new bulb in. No need to shut down the filter system or turn off the pump.

Comments: The lifegard bulb is easy to replace and long lasting. I would recommend this product to any serious aquarist. The only difficulty is mating the connector as it needs to slide out of the rubber cap which is a little too tight. That said, it takes about a minute to change bulbs without having to shut down the sump system.

Comments: This is fine product that I have used for years, as it works well. But do not understand why Pentair Aquatics does not make a "Kit" that includes all of the items that you need to replaced on a annual basis. There are two versions of the 25 watt UV system and and Pentair has misidentified them so it is now on back-order but I am sure once I receive all of the correct parts, I will be again pleased. One thing I can say is that the folks at Marine Depot are taking care of it for me, just as they always do.
