It's only been running for a couple days and I can already see a big difference. Algae is starting to dye off and water is much much clearer. Very happy with it!

TLF GFO 150

I have a 34 gallon tank and have been struggling with string algae for quite awhile. I haven't been able to bring my phosphate levels below 0.2 for just as long. So I decided to get 2 TLF GFO 150s and connect them in series with GFO first and carbon second. Within 24 hours the phosphates were down to 0.03 and within 5 days down to 0.0. No leaks and the 90deg couplings work great. I'm using the supplied Hydor pump, which is quiet, and increased the flow all the way. I decreased the overall flow with the supplied TLF valve. Instead of Phosban, I'm using BRS GFO. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of the end of the string algae.

You have to screw the cap on extra tight or it will leak.
i have found other reactors work better the Media clumps in this reactor.
You have to remove the cap to remove and refill the canister.
the plumbing parts (soft rubber 90 degree elbows the rubber will start to breakdown and show signs of wear in a short period of time.
This media reactor leaks the barb fittings are not the sturdiest.

Pump is Horrible!
Posted: 4/21/2014 from Cordova, TN UNITED STATES
The reactor is great, but I would stay away from the MJ600 pump that is in this kit. If you use the ball valve that comes with the reactor to reduce flow, then the pump will start to make a horrible noise. It rattles like crazy with any sort of head pressure. Just do a little research and you will see that everyone has this problem with this pump. I am not even sure why carries them in a kit. Stay away form the MJ600 and look a getting a Eheim pump
