Great

Comments: This is the second unit that I have purchased. Both have worked well (until I dropped the first one in salt water, but that's a long story). Needs to be calibrated when you receive it. Takes about 10 to 20 seconds to stabilize readings. Be sure to wash the probe thoroughly with DI water if moving between solutions that vary greatly in pH. I use it to measure my KW concentration as well as tank pH, and have found it best to brush the sensor with a soft toothbrush before putting back in the tank, otherwise the pH reads high for a loooong time. My previous unit held calibration very well, only requiring recal after 2 to 3 months Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I have a 24G Nano so I watch the ph closely and this unit is great. Be sure to have a minature screwdriver nearby when preparing to calibrate the unit as one is not included and you will need it for calibration. Great unit though. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: easy to setup, took only one set of calibration fluid to calibrate. it has been setup for a few days now with constant metering. i will probably never have to touch it again for a long while. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I bought the product several months ago. Much easier than test kits that are hard to read. One thing, don't forget to clean it!! I didn't and it started to read higher and higher. I started to worry something was wrong as the pH was hitting 8.6! After a couple of days using vinegar to lower it (an excellent way to lower PH) I finally looked at the probe and the glass bulb was covered with coralline algae. I put the afore mentioned vinegar to better use and soaked the probe (10-15 min) and cleaned it gently with a soft toothbrush. Recalibrated and it's back to normal, and so is the tank. Although the mfr says "No other cleaners are necessary or recommended" it may be the only way to remove encrusted coralline algae. I've also read that bleach is good for removing green algae. Also, get more calibration solution (7 & 10pH) and/or make one using Borax as you should recalibrate once a month. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Unsatisfactory

Comments: This is my SECOND ph monitor from American Marine and the second one is just as bad as the first. It starts off with the calibration. You can not get the unit to read 7, 10, or 4. The company took my first one and said it the calibration screws showed signs of erosion and did not replace the unit. I gave them another chance (big mistake). I am sending back the second unit which is two weeks old and not working properly (the readings are everywhere). I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: i have a couple of these. works great for continual use. holds is calibration very well. i recalibrate once a months and usually only make minor adjustments if any. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I should have purchased this monitor long ago. Having constant monitoring allows you to see your full range of pH fluctuation without having to guess based on spot checks and coral appearance. Kind of a pain to calibrate, but much better than a liquid test kit. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I have several Pinpoint Monitors and they are easy to use and accurate. The company is also very responsive should you have a question or problem as I did with the calcium monitor. Comments: I initially bought this for a low pH tank problem thinking it would be useful for dosing Kalkwasser, instead of manual tests. The truth is I am pleasantly surprised to find that I use it much more than expected to check pH throughout the day and night with the impacts the lighting cycles on the main tank and refugium make, food additions, cleaning, make up water, newly mixed salt water. I'm very happy I bought it now, though I was hesitant for some time prior to the purchase. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
