Comments: I love this ballast! The lights are very bright and make everything look so much beautiful. I was worried after reading the fan was loud, I guess I got lucky because my fans are quiet. I love it and so do my corals and fish. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Received my lights yesterday and their great! Liked the new SLR Reflectors, which really wrap around the bulb, and are not only countoured... Would've liked it to have a couple of moonlights though, but I guess for the price its very good. Haven't had issues with the heat, and hope it continues that way. I hope that the fact that it doesn't have a fan is not a problem, but I guess you can always retrofit one if the need arises. Overall great product, good build quality and great price. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Unsatisfactory

Comments: I decided to switch my 55 gallon aquarium from 2 4' VHOs to T5s. I liked the price of this fixture and decided to go for it. Upon arrival the first thing I notice was that the booklet said that this fixture cannot be placed inside a hood and must be installed over a glass cover. Who uses a glass cover in a reef tank? Glass covers gather droplets, reduce your light, and don't help with oxygen exchange. After I put the lights in the fixture I turned them on. I expected brighter light then my two VHOs, but just from looks alone the brightness seems to be similar. The fixture has a DC using a separate plug (transformer). I turned on the fan and to my surprise it was very, very LOUD. It is by far the loudest thing on my tank. This for me was a deal breaker. I guess I should have not picked the cheapest unit. I am going to look for a unit with a remote ballast. Sorry Current. Try again. Anyone want to by a slightly used T5 fixture? Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Right after the warranty expired so did the lunar lights. Fan is loud. T5's create little heat but 4 of them is too weak for any SPS/ Clams/ and some LPS. Save your money and get a T5/ MH mix. I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I'm new to this and have no other real comparison, but this is BRIGHT!!!!! Way more than I expected. I moved the light bulbs so that I'm only turning on two instead of 4. Much better for me. The fan is LOUD though. Wish it was much quieter. It looks good though above my tank. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Decent light for the money by Mike

Comments: I upgraded my 55 gallon aquarium to a 95 gallon wave with a matching canopy. Since the new aquarium was about a foot taller, my CF Coralife Aqualight (4x65) no longer provided enough power to light the aquarium. I decided to buy this light as a replacement. It had plenty of power (about 4.5 watts per gallon) and had the moon lighting which I loved so much on my aqualight. Today the light was delivered, I took off all the packing material, I pulled the canopy off my aquarium, pulled the coralife light off, and popped this new light on. I noticed it was about twice as deep as the aqualight to hold all of those extra light tubes... Great! As I went to plug it in... uh oh. The cords weren't long enough!!! I have a few power strips mounted inside my stand on the right side and the cords weren't even long enough to reach about 6 inches below the tank on the right side. I couldn't believe it... I had to run to Lowes and get three extension cords (one for each power plug on the light) so that it would work correctly with my timers. $3 in gas and $15 in extension cords later, I got back home and started plugging the three cords in... WAIT! Darn... the designers of this light hard wired the LED transformer into the line and the transformer block wouldn't fit between the back of my stand and the wall. The coralife people were smart enough to have a connector in-line to you could unplug the transformer from the line, route the line inside your stand, and plug the transformer back in. Unfortunately, the Current USA people weren't as smart. So instead I had to run the extension cord outside my stand and plug the LED transformer in outside the stand, leaving an ugly wire hanging out. The canopy wouldn't fit around this light since it's too wide and I had to put it on top. It's only saving grace is that it's quite powerful and the white moon light looks better than the blue... I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Bought a nova extreme 36" 4 T5 from another online company. When it arrived the switches didn't work properly. The cooling fan was noisy as hell, and when I went to warranty the item thorugh Current USA they refferd me the the online supplier they wouldn't deal with the warranty themselves. Eventually the unit after less than a month didn't work at all. I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I have a 20 gallon long tank, which means its 30 inches long. Well there are not many lights that are cheap that will fit a 30 inch tank. So I figured the legs would extend out enough. BUT they dont, so I had to come up with a way to hang it. All the new models (except the 48" model) dont have a fan or moon lights. But they do have Individual Reflectors. PROs: Cheap Price, Individual Reflectors, 2 cords Cons: NO fan, NO moon light, Wont fit 20L or 29gal tank. Summary: Its a decent light for the price, but I should have spent a little more for the sundail. I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Nice light, but I did think that it had lunar lights and it does not. also the fan is VERY loud. It sounds like I have a hair dryer running. Would not buy again if thats how the fan is suppose to sound. I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: This is a reasonably sturdy piece of equipment and puts out a decent amount of light. Had to return first fixture because one bulb was broken and the splash guard was covered with sticky tape residue and scratches. Might have a manufacturing quality control issue as the fixture was packed very poorly.This store was awesome as always and sent a replacement fixture right away. One actinic bulb in the replacement fixture went out after only a week or so. Replaced the bulb and so far so good.I'd read a review before purchasing that said this fixture has a loud fan. Almost didn't buy it for that reason. When I got the fixture, it has no fan. Must have made a design change. Dead quiet which is really nice. I doubt I could do much better for the price.Next fixture, though, I think I'll suck it up and pay for a Tek. I like high quality. I just didn't want to pay so much this time as I'll hopefully be getting a bigger tank in the next year. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I read numerous reviews on this lighting fixture before my purchase. Based on the reviews I expected a hgh qualiy fixture with a loud fan. That was exactly what I received. There is only one fan on he unit and it is in the center of the back. There are places on both ends where a fans could be installed. I ordered two quiet 50mm (2 inch) fans from a online computer store and will install them so I can leave the loud one off. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Works great , everyone loves the new lights. I ran 2 48in VHO 600k and anticnic (1each) on a 110gl 72in long aquarium. That was nice and looked pretty good ,but these lights are much brighter and more user freindly that my retro kit setup. This 48in unit is bright enough to span the whole space of our large aguarium. It gets hot on the switch side , where the fans extract heat from within the light cabinet. Don't expect to place it under a canopy without making some major adjustments. Raise the height of it or you have to remove it completely. Added bonus are the lunar lights, very cool ,new perspective on the hobby. And the lunars work well enough to span the whole environment once again. Worth the money if you want to get the best out of your aquarium. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I went from metal halides to T5's in an effort to reduce my electricity consumption...not disappointed at all. These lights are great. My favorite thing are the moonlights; everyone that has had a chance to see the tank in the evening just loves the moonlights. The fan is a little noisy but nothing you can't get used to; and for the price, you just can't beat it. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: We have a 75 gallon marine, fish only tank, and up to this point, were always disappointed with illumination. Then we got the Nova Extreme. WOW! What an improvement. The colors of the fish, liverock and clean-up crew is greatly enhanced, and we're particularly enthusiastic to view our tank with the moon-lighting. We see stuff we've never seen before. One negative is that with this lighting system, every iota of uneaten food quickly becomes apparent. But that's not a bad thing, now we are less prone to overfeeding our motley crew that dwells within the aquarium. Very, very satisfied. Also, the shipping and packing was perfect. Bravo! Comments: The Current USA Nova Extreme 4x39W T5HO is well worth the money! The light gives a blue glow that attracts attention to your tank. My corals and fish look very vivid in color even from a distance. The coolest feature besides the wide range of corals/reefs you can grow is the moonlight. Everyone that has seen the tank late at night raves on how the slight glow reminds them of the ocean. Great product! Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: These T-5's are great! They outshine my old compact Floresence big time. The lunar lamps throw out a neat nighttime glow. The best thing about this system is how cool the aquarium is. With my old system, I had a hard time keeping the temp. below 81 or so.(Even with fans). But my temp. does not climb over 78 now. LOVE EM. Many corals in my tank are looking beautiful. They LOVE EM too.The 75 gal. never looked any better.Highly recommend these T-5s. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: These are great lights in my reef saltwater tank setup. Granted you cant have some of the hard corals, but they do great with all my soft and even certain plate and brain corals depending on placement. I had PC's prior and changed to these in my main tank, the light output is great and the lunars lights look sweet at night with the ripples making it look just as if it were evening in the ocean. Fan keeps them cool enough and seperate switches and plugs make it easy to setup. Cant complain especially at the price and energy consumption compared to Halides. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I was running 4 110 watt vho lights. These did not seem half as bright as the nova extreme. Another big change is the reflector does an excellent job of focusing the light to just inside the aquarium. My room doesn't appear to be glowing from outside the house any more. The 50/50 mix of blue and white lighting really makes color of the corals stand out. Great light and putting out 1.5 * the lumens per watt... plenty strong for any coral while maintaining the efficiency of my electric bill Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I have been using it for about 6 months, and so far so good, No problems, the cooling fan work strong and quite, it's a bit tall which is good couse keeps the heat away from the water if ur not using the hood. The legs are kind of frigale but nothing to worry about and I wish the lunar lights were just slightly stronger. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I'll start by saying that T5 is a big upgrade over PCs. Less power lost to heat and more intense light. I am getting some color response out of my SPS that you normally see only with MH bulbs, and that's with the free bulbs they send you. 4 bulb fixture is plenty to play with color ratios. Can't wait to throw giesemann bulbs on. Some people complain about the flimsy legs. When the fixture is on your tank, its weight stabilizes it. A firm nudge will make it wiggle but not fall. Each also has a hole that I suspect can be used with a nut-bolt to hard fasten it to the fixture. I give 4 stars because my lunar light ballast started buzzing, so I unplugged it just in case. Lunar lights are OK but are dispensable. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: HI, I am Surprised at the improvment in light quality with this Light. Many of the models at my Local Petstores require you purchase the bulbs seperate from the light. So this was a big savings, and I own two Compact lights it seems the bulbs start to lose qaulity afte a couple months of use. Highly reccomended Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I just received this light and it seems to be ok. I didn't expect much as this is just a back up light so I can't say that I'm disappointed. I can say that the fan is extremely loud and that it won't shut off. It's either pluged in and on or unplugged and off. Would have been better if it came on only when the lights came on. I probably should have just spent a little more and bought a MH/T5 combo for a back up. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I bought this as an upgrade to a weak stock light. Overall the light seems to be great, only a couple suggestions: - the fan is way too loud for the amount of air it pulls through the light. The fan end of the light is always very hot, while only the opposite end ever cools down. You can't feel much air coming out of the fan, perhaps because it doesn't have a clear path to pull from inside the light. - There should be a switch built in to turn the fan off temporarily, rather than having to unplug it. My setup is in an office, and when I take calls I can't have that much noise in the background. - The way Current packs the light, bulbs can pop loose and break during shipment. One of my bulbs was broken when I opened the box. This could be avoided with a couple strips of tape across them. When I emailed customer service, they were more than helpful in getting a replacement bulb shipped immediately, and it was a better bulb than what originally came with the light. I would defintely recommend this light to others, however Currenty really needs to work on the fan noise. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I bought this light which turned out to be too small for my tank which led me to return it, but after looking at it for awhile it was quite a nice light. Both the 10,000k and 7,500k bulbs bulbs are great looking and very bright. The fan as other reviews online say, is a LITTLE bit loud but nothing too extraordinary. The lunar lights also look nice at night. If this light fits your tank, it seems like a great buy -> go for it! Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: This thing is NOISY. I am guessing that the point in all of these lights with fans is to move serious air to keep the ballasts cool. That must mean no regard for noise. I have my 20 gallon in my my bedroom and my wife will not tolerate the noise. The good news is there is a spot on the intake side for another fan to be mounted. Therefore, I am going to wait until the warranty expires and pull the fan and mount two fans instead of one. One on the right side pointing in, and one on the left pointing out. You can pull the fans from an old 3Com 10/100 hub (also 12 volt and 20 times quieter and the same size) Already have that all ready to go.As far and the light distribution and color, it is a great unit. I find the legs a bit rickity, I would have liked the tracks AND legs to have been metal (legs are plastic). Also if you use a bi-folding glass under it, you cannot position it on the tank where you can open the glass without moving it off the tank or holding it, or letting it balance on your hang-on filter or something. I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Well made, works great, this is good value even with shipping cost. You can hear the fan, but you get used to it. Four electrical connections: 2 for t5s, one for moon lights and one for fan. Arrived in 10 days to Canada. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I bought the 24" for a nano tank setup, and so far I like it. great light output, the led moonlights are nice and everything has it's own plug so I can hook it up to different timers. The legs are adjustable to fit different size tank/canopy, construction quality is pretty good too. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Plenty of light, LOUD Fan. There is no way to slow the fan down or turn it off without unpugging one of the 4 power cords. Very frustrating. Just too loud! Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
