CoralVue 250 Watt Electronic Metal Halide Ballast Information




Coralvue® electronic ballasts are an important energy-saving unit used for metal halide lamps. Its job is to fire the lamps and stabilize the operating current. This ballast can save energy by more than 30%. The ballast has a self-protected circuit, which is controlled automatically. If power is removed or lost from the ballast it will take approximately 7 minutes for the ballast to fire the lamp again. The ballasts are available in normal or dimmable. These ballasts will drive any 250w SE metal halide bulb or 250w DE (HQI) metal halide bulb.

Comments: I've had issues with Lumatek ballasts barely lasting just over a year. Given the reviews I switched to the CoralVue and so far so good! It fires up the bulb quickly and doesnt make a sound. I only wish it came with the little rubber tabs for the mounting plate to give it a bit of space underneath for better air circulation like the other brands include. Other than that I hope it lasts as long as the other reviews indicate.

Working strong after 4 years

Comments: I have four of the 400 watt units on my 600 gallon tank. I have not had any problems and the light production is great. I am buying 2 more of these to replace my lumateks which keep failing. I took a half a star off because you need to made sure the cord is plugged all the way into the ballast. I had one come loose where the connection was arching and started to mellt the plug. I had cause it to come loose while working on my tank so luckily I was there to smell the problem and correct it in time. I would like to see a locking mech on the plugs or anoher type plug the doesnt come loose so easily.

Comments: Other than having to hardwire the output to my Coralife bulb the ballast is working perfectly. Compared to the other two Metal halide bulbs which are powered by Coralife ballasts this CoralVue ignites the bulb much faster and smoother.

Comments: I bought this to replace a defective Blueline eBallast. Works perfectly and is extremely quiet. My only issue was that I needed to hard wire the output connection to the lamp, as there is no plug style connection. No big deal from most, but for me that means I need to unwire anytime I need to remove the hood since the ballast on the other side of a wall.

Comments: No Complaints, does what a ballast is suppose to do. Does a much better job of driving the bulbs than my old ballasts that came with the light fixture. You get what you pay for in this hobby. Buy quality first that way you don't have to turn around and buy again.
