Well made and designed item. I placed a blue strip over my twenty extra tall nano six months ago. It makes everything glow very well especially when the main lighting turns off for the night. If you place the unit on a small angle so the light crosses the water column on an angle front to back the shimmer will be maximized. A slight amount of surface turbulence helps too. Worth every penny. Absolutely. I am going to get a pair of white strips to place over my cichlid tank to create shimmer with no heat buildup. Don't tell the wife!
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Great Little Lights...

I use 2 actinic/sun combo units on a 6'x30"x3' freshwater acrylic tank housing Peacock Bass, giant catfish and a school of very large Redhook and Black Barred Silver dollars and love the deep water effect that it gives the tank. I like my tanks dimly lit and the 2 units I use give just enough light to illuminate the parts of the tank where they sit. The fish also behave normally they way they would in their natural environment and aren't as nervous as they would be in a fully lit tank. At 3' tall, these lights do reach all the way to the bottom. For large reef tanks, you would need at least a minimum of 8-10 units in order to provide the invertebrates enough light if you were to use them in place of other lights. I think you'd still need supplemental lighting to get a good balance of illumination, but they are great for accent lighting. I also use the 10000k units on my large and small tree frog tanks, but again, a lot of units would have to be used to give the plants enough light. I use 4 units alone on a 12x12x18 Exo Terra terrarium I use as a Paludarium just to give the plants enough light. I have a 30x24x38 Tree frog tank that I wanted to use these units on, but it would have required at least 10 units to give the same output that my single Coral Life compact lighting unit does. I switched some of my tanks to LEDs because of the very low energy consumption and almost no heat output. If I had all the money in the world, every single tank would have LEDs for illumination. These are obviously not cheap lights and you need quite a few units if you have high light requirements. I still love them regardless.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

these are great, they produce about 50-60 lumens per watt i would have to say that this is another winner from current, once i seen them at my local fish store, i decided to redo the lighting on my 40g, i had a T5 fixture with 4x39 watt and switched it out for a T5 retrofit kit 2x39 watts and 4 powerbrite's (460nm) mounted everything to the top of my canopy and WOW! it looks like i have a halide fixture, but without the heat and high electric bill. also, i noticed new colors in my corals that i never saw before.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
