I had the original sitting on the edge of my bathroom sink upside-down to change the water. It rolled over and down into the sink and cracked on impact (it fell maybe 2 inches before hitting the sink). I do love the look of this fish bowl though, just wish it was was more sturdy :) Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends. Therefore, the lid fits, however it is lose and I have to be careful not to knock it or I'm afraid that the lid will come off and the bowl will fall.
