These are the highest quality industrial-grade Brass Check Valve from German Air Pressure Systems. They are heavy-duty enough for food-grade liquid as well. Just like you, we also thought that these were unnecessarily overkill for aquaristic purposes, but it has been proven that these are the ONLY qualified Check Valves for protecting your expensive CO2 equipment (Regulator & Cylinders) from saltwater with a pressurized Kalkreaktor pushing it backward vigorously. Takes 4/6 mm (ID/OD) or 1/8" airline tubing.

Comments: a "must have" for calcium reactors, only one very small problem w/ this product - it doesn't come w/ any instructions at all. couldn't really make out the directional arrow at first, had to do trial and error to be sure. otherwise, excellent product.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I bought a brass check valve to replace one that had locked up, and so far it is allowing gas to flow well. I still want to know why my original valve shut up, as this new one appears to be identical.
