Excellent!

Comments: I purchased this pump to replace an Iwaki (japanese motor) pump that turned out to be louder than my vaccuum cleaner. This Gen-X pump is very very quiet. A normal house fan is louder than the pump. Heat on the pump is around 100-110f which is much cooler than the Iwaki as well, plus 500GPH stronger. There wasn't a lot of choices for me for pumps due to my requirements of 3/4" in and out, this pump was one of the few that fit the bill, and I am very happy with it. Price is good, performance is good, and most importantly, noise level is good. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Excellent!

Comments: This pump was a replacement for the exact same model. Obviously, the old one was on it's last leg and quit Friday night prior to Memorial Day weekend (of course)! I ordered the new one Tuesday, it arrived Thursday and it is a dream! It must have 3 times the flow, makes sense with any new pump, flow will be improved, but we had no idea it would be this much so! The old plumbing was used, so it was basically effortless to install outside the sump. The previous PCX40 was extremely reliable. I can't say how many times I ran it dry, "accidentally" plus, it survived 3 hurricanes and power interruptions through all that in '04 and it kept going - it must have been somewhere between 5-8 yrs old. Totally salt encrusted and rusty, it didn't owe me a thing and I wouldn't have gone with anything else. My set up is 110 gal saltwater with a rear overflow, protein skimmer and self-built wet/dry filter. I have 7 fish, 5 stars, a gorgonian, and several shrimp, snails and crabs. This pump is a lifesaver and works like a charm. Thanks Marine Depot! Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
