ROWAcarbon contains extremely low levels of Phosphate, unlike many low cost carbon products on the market place which are washed in phosphoric acid as a final stage of preparation and which can release high levels of phosphate into the water. I placed the filter bag in the sump, and I run it for about 2 weeks each month. It keeps the water crystal clear. In order to keep nitrates under control, I recommend removing the carbon after two weeks. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
