Automatically sets and stabilizes pH at 7.0. Removes chlorine & detoxifies heavy metals. For community aquariums. Contains Aloe Vera and electrolytes to reduce fish stress. Use when setting up aquarium or changing water. Purpose and Benefits: Proper pH 7.0 is a pH adjuster and stabilizer (buffer) for freshwater aquariums. Proper pH 7.0 neutralizes chlorine, detoxifies heavy metals, and adds electrolytes to the aquarium. The product also contains Aloe Vera, a proven natural stress reducer and healing agent for tropical fish. A pH of 7.0 is ideal for a community aquarium. Proper pH 7.0 is formulated to lock the pH at 7.0. Buffers compensate for fluctuations in pH, automatically adjusting the pH to the predetermined level. Proper pH 7.0 will lower or raise the pH until 7.0 is reached. pH will not rebound to the original level. It may require more than one dose to adjust the pH. This is because carbonates (KH) in the water work against pH adjustment. Directions for Use: Add entire contents of one Proper pH packet for every 10 gallons (40 L) of aquarium water or, using the enclosed measuring spoon, add one scoop of Proper pH for every 10 gallons (40 L) of aquarium water. Repeat treatment when a pH test indicates a change of more than 0.2 pH units away from the desired pH level. Compatibility: Proper pH 7.0 is for freshwater aquariums only. Proper pH 7.0 is a phosphate buffer and should not be used with live aquatic plants. If the aquarium water has a general hardness (GH) level above 200 ppm a haze can form in the water. This haze is the precipitation of some of the mineral salts. It is non-toxic and will be filtered out by most aquarium filters. This haze can be avoided by first softening aquarium water with Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Water Softener Pillow. Use the Water Softener Pillow to reduce water hardness, thus preventing mineral haze and permitting easy pH adjustments to 7.0. Use Aquarium Pharmaceuticals GH Test Kit to measure water hardness. I assume it was the new filter media. Proper pH fixed it in one standard dose and one smaller one a few days later. We are at 7.2 and the fish are happy. I will use it routinely.
