Coralife Turbo-Twist UV Sterilizers are the most efficient devices for ultraviolet sterilization on the market today. They feature a quartz glass sleeve with a PL compact fluorescent UV lamp surrounded by a revolutionary Turbo-Twist flow design to increase dwell time, which in turn increases efficacy. Continuous ultraviolet sterilization of your water eliminates single-cell algae for crystal-clear aquariums and also eradicates most harmful microorganisms on the initial pass through the chamber. Its triple-treatment time fully utilizes all the available UV output of the lamp and ensures that disease-causing pathogens cannot reproduce, thus decreasing the possibility of a disease outbreak in your system. Coralife Turbo-Twist UV Sterilizers have been designed for use in all freshwater and saltwater aquatic systems.

Excellent!

Comments: I have used this sterilizer for 3 years. I started using it when my 180 gallon aquarium was first set up. I am using a RIO 1400 pump with it. A few months ago I thought I would take it off and see if it really necessary since the configuration of my canopy made access simpler if it were not there. Within a few days my water turned somewhat cloudy and my fish began looking less that pleased with the change. I turned it back on and the water cleared within 48 hours. Needless to say it will remain on my tank. In three years I have never had a leak. I have checked several times to see if it needed cleaning but found no slime or residue built up inside. I do replace the bulb every 6-9 months which is an easy replacement though rather expensive at about $50. It seems comparable to other sterilizers and paired with the performance I will not complain. I would highly recommend this product to anyone.

Comments: Nice mounting options. However,too many areas that are prone to leaks. A solid,one piece design would be better than a "take apart" model.
