Description:
Color and vigor of fish can be negatively affected by lack of trace minerals. Kent Discus Essential replaces biologically important trace minerals which are used by fish and plants and removed through filtration in discus aquaria. Discus Essential will provide color and vigor without use of dangerous hormones! It contains no detrimental heavy metals, phosphates, nitrates, or silicates.
Directions:
Add one teaspoon (one capful) per 30 gallons of tank capacity every week. Use Kent Freshwater Plant Supplement also, in heavily planted aquaria.
Considerations for use:
If using reverse osmosis, deionized or distilled water, first use Kent R/O Right to replace major and minor elements removed during purification process and create artificial river water. If using tap water, or after making artificial water with R/O Right, use this product, Discus Essential, to restore trace minerals lost due to carbon, resin and other filtration, and absorbed by fish and plants.
This product will not affect alkalinity, pH or water hardness. You must adjust pH separately, and use R/O Right to increase total dissolved solids (i.e. GH), if required. Kent pH STABLE will increase alkalinity (i.e. KH) and help maintain a stable pH.
A word about carbon use - carbon, resin products, and pad filters will remove trace minerals! (Contrary to information many companies claim!) We recommend you use carbon etc. for several days, then remove it. Then, dose the tank with Discus Essential to replace those minerals adsorbed. To conserve carbon, simply reduce your use to the amount necessary to clear the water. Use carbon again when water starts to turn yellow.
