Efficient design combines mechanical filtration and biofiltration to suspend debris and promote beneficial bacteria activity. Purified water is disharged to the pond where aquatic plants can remove nitrates.  TetraPond ClearChoice Biofilter sponges remove suspended matter from the pond. A combination of Trckle-Flow Technology, aeration and massive surface area promote the growth of ammonia consuming bacteria.
