Great pumps by PANG YANG
Experience Level: Intermediate
Posted on 7/2/2009 from BANNING, CA UNITED STATES
Comments: I've used various powerheads, but these have been the best so far that I've used. These have magnets and will not move or fall off unlike others I've used. I have two nanos and they work great in my 10 gallon tank. If you have anything bigger than a 10 gallon tank, think about the Koralia 1-4. These are small, efficient, and very quiet. One of the best pumps I've used, look so simple yet work so well. I will be buying more Koralia's in the future for tank upgrades.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I own several K2 - K4's and these pumps never disappoint. I use mine on a 'wavemaker' and while not really designed for that, they are somewhat noisy on startup. However, the benefits outweigh the inconvenience. If you are looking to provide some motion for your ocean, then you are on the right reef with this pump.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Hydor Koralia 4 by JAY JOINER

Comments: These pumps are, hands down, the best on the market for performance and price. Two HK4's really churn the water in a 100 gal. tank, yet produce an extremely gentle current. Acro really thrive and fish stay active. Great for any beginner to expert reef enthusiast.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I have a 50 Super High (30L x 13W x 32H) and had a K1 and a K2. My circulation was still much too low as I had dead spots. The addition of the K3 made a huge difference. IMO, if you have a 40 gallon or larger, get the K3 instead of the K2. Both are great products and a great price.

Comments: Pump works well. Small and not too noticable. I use it to keep a current through a log (hard to clean) area in my 75 gallon aquarium. I have sand substrate and it doesn't bother this powerhead at all!

Koralia Nano by MICHAEL ALLEN
Experience Level: Intermediate
Posted on 6/22/2009 from SOLON, OH UNITED STATES
Comments: Great little pump! Wisper quite and doesn't run hot. I have one of these in a standard 10 gallon with softies and a few LPS and it provides just enough variable flow to keep things moving without blowing them around too much. Corals move gently and naturally. Highly recommend for smaller tanks that don't need a ton of flow.

Comments: I have a 55G marine tank, with fish and live rock and few invertebrates. I have two of these pumps in the tank. The pump was easy to assemble and hook up. Love the flexibility of placement and directing water flow. Looks nice in the tank and easy to clean. Keeps the water moving, overall a good choice.

Powerful and quiet by CMC

Comments: Whisper quiet and very powerful. Can't ask for much more in a pump. The only drawback is that its size is a little large for my 12G nano, so the pump is quite noticeable. There's really no place to tuck this pump out of the way.

Comments: The Koralia 3, 115v is a beast! It flows so well, I hid it behind a large piece of coral to help dissipate the stream of water. So I have great movement through out the tank and the pump isn't even visible. I like!

Great Product for Reef Tanks by MIKE BELL
Experience Level: Intermediate
Posted on 5/7/2009 from EDMOND, OK UNITED STATES
Comments: I replaced two Penquin 1140 powerheads with two Koralia 2 in my 110 reef tank. They give me the supplemental flow I need without over powering the tank. The suction cup with the magnet outside support is a plus. The corals that don't need a strong flow have responded immediately.

Great powerhead by Nigthawk4211
Experience Level: Beginner
Posted on 5/7/2009 from SALT LAKE CITY, UT
Comments: I've been using a Koralia Nano pump for several months now, and just bought another. They are great powerheads; small, nice broad flow stream, reliable operation, no suction cups, and an affordable price. My one quibble is that it's a bit tricky to direct the flow because of the way it attaches to the magnet (you can't turn it too far or it'll fall off.) I've seen some of the larger versions of this pump in use at an LFS and they appear not to have this issue.

Comments: This is the third hydor I have purchased in the past several years.....I feel that these items are a wonderful improvement for aquarists. The power they generate takes minimal wattage and allow a desired directed flow for corals in my aquarium They do not fall or slide out of place and are easily removed for cleaning. I still have all three.

Comments: Great Pump, operates just as advetised if not better. These pumps are well built, and they last! I have been running 2 #1 pumps for over 5 years now with no problems. But everyone said I needed at least #2 pumps in my 75 Gal. Reef tank, so I bought one and took out one of the #1 pumps. Awesome flow yet gentle, and for the price you can't beat it.

Comments: this thing is tiny, makes for nearly no footprint in the tank. wish the mount to the pump side was a little mote like the koralia 1. the nano is great for eliminating dead spots in small tanks. I have mine in a 24 aquapod works great to move the water from the bottom right near the intake grate. the next move is the ecotech MP20 just love the idea of a wave. but for the time 20 bucks on this is a great deal. minus one star for the mount, and the cheezy pop-on-pop-off grate cover.

Great for the $ by gabbagabbawill
Experience Level: Intermediate
Posted on 4/16/2009 from ATLANTA, GA UNITED STATES
Comments: These pumps don't really seem as though they are putting through as much flow as they claim. They do provide a decent amount of circulation that is not extremely directional like an aquaclear (which is a good thing). I found one thing misleading - you can't easily adjust the position of the pump just by moving the magnet. I still have to stick my hand in the tank to get it in position. It's still a lot easier to position than the common alternatives, which is why I give it 4 stars instead of 3.

Comments: I Put four of these in my 20 gallon SPS nano tank. They just don't push enough water, some corals died at base. With the Koralia's you need to go with a bigger one then what you think. I am running a K1 and a K3 in a 20 gallon tank! I would not recommend any of these power heads for anything more then a LITTLE extra movement.

Comments: I bought 2 #3's for my 90 gallon and its just not enough flow. They def dont feel like 850 GPH. You cant feel the flow 12 inches from the pump. But they are very nicely designed. Love the suction cup design and ease of adjustment and placement. Just wish I wouldve gone bigger. If you have a big tank (55+) def go with #4's.

Koralia 4's by DAVID CANNELLA
Experience Level: Intermediate
Posted on 2/23/2009 from ALLENTOWN, NJ UNITED STATES
Comments: Picked up two of the #4 pumps for my 150G reef tank after having a nano model and a #2 in there already over a year. The nanos located on the left at the base of my rock pile moving just enough water around and the #2 is on the lower right of the pile moving flow towards the left and also removes a dead spot. I replaced the Maxi-Jet 1200s there prior hooked up to a alternating wavemaker up top and behind my main tanks returns. The Maxi-Jet pumps do work better and are quieter with restarting with a timer due to design being different. I have replaced Maxi-Jets props over the years and had problems with one of the Jets nozzles turning due to vibration so I made the change. I can now direct the water flow much easier off the front glass or away from certain corals without that harder shot/blast of water thus not even needing a timer. These actually arent as powerful feeling as I thought they might be being the Maxi-jets 1200s are 295GPH and these are 1200GPH oddly enough. I guess it feels like double the flow of the #2. Even with the new front directional flow adaptors they are just a wider and gentler feeling flow. Dont get me wrong, they do move a lot of water, its just not the concentrated blast of the Maxi-jet as you place your hand in front of them. When I toss in food like cyclops I notice no areas on non-movement now. I like that they give you a screen for the fronts even though Ive never had a snail or fish wander in before, and the center rod for the prop is now a sturdier steel and no longer breakable plastic. The maxi-jets also were harder to place in my tank, the magnets of these make it so easy to angle, move at any height/section of the tank when corals grow with time. Its been a little over two weeks now since I placed them and I can say that my tank corals and featherdusters are moving much better and the extra flow has my star polyps and leathers looking better. I like them.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: An average product at best. Construction was indifferent and it worked fine for about one year. It recently stopped working so I pulled it out figuring it only needed some cleaning. I took it over to the kitchen sick and scrubbed it down. I filled the sink with water and plugged it in and ... nothing. It was then that I discovered that it was leaking current into the water. I found out the hard way. I won't be buying another Koralia.

Korlalia 1, 400 gph?? by RON
Experience Level: Beginner
Posted on 2/1/2009 from EVERETT, WA UNITED STATES
Comments: I don't think so... even with the little flow concentrator it does not impress me in my 24 gallon tank. I use this in conjunction with a Maxijet 1200 for the return pump. The magnet for mounting is Very nice to use though. Also, I was not too happy with the limited travel it has for positioning it within the tank. I mounted it on the side and it would not adjust close to the side of the tank as I wanted it to. I ended up cutting a Notch in the ball swivel base so it would be about to move closer to the glass like I wanted it to. Then the water would flow where I wanted it to, to begin with. I would give it 3.5 stars (due to the lack of flow and having to mod it) but cannot do 1/2 stars, so I'll be a nice guy and round up to 4 stars.

Comments: Man this thing will push some water around. I didn't realize that you needed such strong water movement in an aquarium. I'm a beginner and trying to get a good start in this and read several in places and reviews about Hydor Koralia and it seemed like a good start. I don't care for the size of it but I guess that's something I'm going to have to work around maybe hide it with some rock or something. The price wasn't to bad and it came with magnets to hang it with which I really liked and seems to hold very well
