I have had a ViaAqua 650 for about 3 years and I have only replaced the impeller shaft once. The only other thing I don't like is when you disconnect the hoses from the top of the canister, it spills a little water- but not much. For the price it is a great filter. Compare it to the Ehiem Pro 2; they both have the same basic design, except without the primer and at a fraction of the cost. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
