Description

The Eheim prefilter base housing traps coarse particles already in the suction area before they reach the filter. This prevents the filter media in the canister from becoming contaminated too quickly, thus increasing the biological process of decomposition in the external filter and a longer service life.

Comments: THE PREFILTER WORKS FINE, THE PROBLEM IS INSTALLATION. THE ANGLED PIPE DOES NOT MATCH THE INTAKE HOSE ON THE EHEIM 2217 FILTER. IT MATCHES WITH OUTPUT HOSE. IN ORDER TO INSTALL THE PREFILTER I HAD TO REMOVE THE ANGLED PIPE & REVERSE THE EXISTING INTAKE PIPE SO THAT THE SHORTER END IS IN THE TANK AND CUT A SHRT PIECE OF INTAKE HOSE TO CONNECT THE INTAKE PIPE TO THE PREFILTER PIPE.

Comments: I added 2 Eheim Prefilter Base Hosings to my 75 gallon tank after it was already set up. Only issue I had on one was back cover came off where you would hook up a second filter. Other than that, it works great
