Description

Phosphates in a reef aquarium can be very detrimental to coral growth. It is recomonded Phosphates levels be kept below 0.03ppm. Most test kits will not read as low as 0.03, howerver the Hanna Instruments Photometer will read down to 0.01, providing the acuracy needed for maintaining a SPS tank.

Phosphates are particularly important for the growth and development of plant roots, and hence are one of the most common fertilizers used in agriculture.

In addition, phosphates are usually utilized in detergents and are needed, in small quantities, for heating systems. However, high concentrations of phosphates can cause environmental pollution: they are for example a primary cause of eutrophication.

For these reasons, it is necessary to closely monitor the phosphate levels present in both civil and industrial waste water.

In order to cater to the different needs of users in a wide array of applications, the HANNA instruments phosphate meters have been designed to cover the following ranges:

From 0.00 to 2.50 mg/L (HI 93713)

From 0.0 to 30.0 mg/L (HI 93717)

Excellent!

Comments: This is a great product. Ordinary test kits may be ok to use for finding out if you have a phosphate problem, but they just don't cut it when it comes to monitoring the low range levels of phosphate. There have been a few reports of people, including me, who have gotten bad batches of reagents causing inconsistent test results. Fortunately, Marine Depot took care of my issue, and now I'm getting very consistent results. This unit will also help me to determine when it's time to change the media in my phosphate reactor.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
