An aquarium external pump is the best option for "high head" applications where water needs to be pumped a long distance vertically—like when the sump
or filter system is on another floor of your home (like in the basement) below the main display tank.
Since aquarium external water pumps have higher flow rates, a single large pump can be used to run multiple pieces of equipment using a flow manifold to divert water to different areas. You can control the amount of water flow using ball valves
to dial in the correct flow rate for each piece of equipment you have running.
