The charcoal and filter pads are fine. The charcoal bags are little smaller than the filter, and I wonder if the water flows through the charcoal or around. The Subcurrent Internal Filter itself was sold to me as an alternative to a skimmer. It is not-at least for my 25gal with multiple leathers. It is a filter with the added advantage of being able to direct the flow. I will probably get a skimmer when budget allows. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
