Unsatisfactory

Comments: There are many problems with this pre-skimmer, that I've found. First, it is very touchy on the water level in the tank. Too much water and it is not efficient in allowing the pump to suck in the surface protein. Too little water and the pump pumps out all the water. I tried drilling some holes below to try and make it more forgiving, but that didn't work. The screws to hold it in place work, but are inconvenient. Hard to actually adjust the height of the box. Finally, the thing is HUGE. Takes up a lot of room. I got rid of mine and bought a surface skimmer from Aquaclear. Tom Aquatics, Eheim, and I'm sure other companies make one. The pump is exposed, but it works a lot better than this pre-skimmer. I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: The install is easy, put it together first outside your system to see how it all fits. The box is overly big but I like having the return side open to be able to put in extra carbon and such. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: This is a great idea that was poorly realized by AquaC. The method of adjusting the height of the skimmer in the tank is clumsy, time consuming, and guaranteed to get you wet. And unless you use a top-off system that keeps your water at a very constant level, you'll be fiddling with the height every day or so. A trifle too high and the mag pump pulls water out of the box faster than it can fill, creating interesting but annoying noises and certainly shortening the life of the pump. A trifle too low and water from the effluent side runs back into the intake so that you are skimming the same water over and over. C'mon, AquaC, you can do better than this. I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I have it on and it is working like a champ. I modified mine a little and added more surface skimming holes. I also only use one of the two screw clamps and leave the other one out. That configuration keeps my pump from getting dry if my water level falls while I am not there.I would definitly buy again Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Its BIG, its UGLY, it will not stay attached, other than that it seems OK. Seriously this thing does NOT work, very poorly designed. To attach it to the pump you have three plastic screws that simply are inadequate for the job. The skimmer quickly works loose and simply lies under the water surface, not skimming. Even if it did work it takes up so much space in the tank that I would be inclined to find another solution. I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Beyond easy to install and does exactly what it says it will do. Definitely cleans up the look of the tank by hiding the pump . Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: If you are going to use the Mag3 pump then you will definately want to have this item with it. I fought microbubbles until I added the skimmer box to it. It has been running great ever since. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
