Great
Remora Pre-Skimmer by MICHAEL DAVILA
Experience Level: Beginner

Comments: The pre-filter doea a good job of hiding the pump in my 29g. It is a bit bulky, but nevertheless proves to be an improvement on the overall visual appeal. The attachment to the pump is a bit questionable, but I have set up the live rock to help support the pre-filter. You must keep an eye out for any decrease in water level, as this will cause the pump to run dry. Overall, I am very satisfied with the performance of both the Remora, and the pre-filter. I have had this running for almost 1 week, and it has produced more skimmate than I would have imagined.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: It works good. Not great but good. Less micobubbles, surface skimming. one bad thing is that it is hard to attach it on the pump.

Unsatisfactory
Not so Great by SHAWN TAYLOR
Experience Level: Beginner

Comments: This unit seems to hinder the suction capability of the maxi-jet 1200. My skimmer was not creating any foam until I removed this. It than started to create foam almost instantly. I will try it again in about a week or so, but as of now I don't recommend this. Maybe if it was a little larger so that the pump could be turned around as to not have the intake so close to the divider it would work better.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Excellent!
AquaC Pre-skimmer by Cameron
Experience Level: Intermediate
Posted on 5/5/2008
Comments: Before I had this on my nano reef tank there was a significant film of proteins on the surface of my water. Before I had taken a tiny cup to skim the top and dump the waterright into the skimmer, but the film would return shortly. Once I get the prefilter installed and adjusted it a bit it worked great. There is no more film and my corals have opened up more. The only thing I don't like is that there is almost a sweet spot for the water level to get good overflow but not too much so the pump runs dry. If you have significant evaporation and no auto-top off system in place you should watch your tank very closely to get a feel for how much water you need to replace everyday. A great buy!
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Excellent!
worked for me by AMBER KITTRELL

Comments: I chose this simply for concealement of the hiddeous pump. It definitely did the job, plus it did cut down immediately, and after a few days, eliminated my microbubbles. You will have to tighten it down pretty hard to keep it on the pump and have to work with it to get it level, but I felt it was worth the trouble. You also have to keep an eye on the water level, but is also worth the trouble to me. To sum up the question of "If I should buy this product?" can be answered by one question... "Do you thoroughly try to keep a sleek and modern looking display tank?" If you answered yes, you should buy it. If you are one with hoses, sumps, refugiums, bulky equipment all in the tank and scattered everywhere on the floor outside the tank in plain view.. well, you would see this product as troublesome and pointless and its probably not for you.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Hmmm... by TIMOTHY L ILCH
Experience Level: Intermediate
Posted on 4/4/2008 from JERSEY CITY, NJ UNITED STATES
Comments: I was very excited to get my new pre-Skimmer for the remora... however, after a month, I still have the micro bubbles. As far as the construction of the skimmer, be prepared to concoct your own method of affixing it to your pump. I ended up drilling a hole in the plexi and using suction cups from the maxi jet to stick it to the wall. It kept falling down off the pump.... Worth the money, only becuase I can't design plastic myself, but be prepared to fool with it a bit.
I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Noisy, but... by Corbin
Experience Level: Intermediate

Comments: In retrospect, I probably should have gone with a more powerful powerhead. Other than that it works great! It forces out large ammounts of skimate. The only thing I can say negatively is that it is a little noisy. I would definitley recomend this to friends with smaller reef tanks.

Waste of Money by J. R FIGUEROA
Experience Level: Expert
Posted on 3/2/2008 from FREMONT, CA UNITED STATES
Comments: Don't bother with this unit. The water might get a bit, and just a bit more clear, but you have to constantly be on the look out so the water level does not drop below the recommended or your pump will run dry and burn. I have to top water off every single day, no matter how little. Another thing, the unit doesn't really get rid of bubbles, there comes a point where the output area floods. Plus, it takes a lot of space inside the tank. Wast of money.
I would not recommend this product to my friends.
