Comments: Awfully big, but very quiet. I am running 4 of these to power 1000w. I would love to see them come out with a dual 250w to save space Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I really like this ballast. My SPS corals have really colored up since this installaiton! I mean really a lot!. I was using another setup (hamilton 14000k 250watt SE with icecap electronic ballast). Now with this PFO ballast I have a 250watt 20000k SE radium bulb. This radium should be lower par than the hamilton 14000k but with the PFO HQI slightly overdriving the bulb I get more PAR. This coupled with the 20000k bulb I think is what is coloring up my SPS corals! Also with the PFO slightly overdriving the 20000k the color of the bulb is whiter than with the icecap electronic ballast. Although the color of the tank is slightly bluer, that is offset by the fact that I now have corals that were previously brown, now bright purple! Other frags that were colored red when I got them turned more brown under the hamilton 14k/Icecap, are now bright pink/red! Bulbs 9 ~ 10 inches off the water over 29 gallon Biocube in a hanging DIY Canopy. Yes you will need a chiller. I am using a 1/10hp chiller. according to Sanjay: Hamilton 250watt 14000k, icecap ballast, PAR = 69 Radium 250watt 20000k, PFO ballast, PAR - 85 I hope this helps.
