Tunze Turbelle Stream Pump 6080
Information
Conventional aquarium pumps generate excessively high flow rates in the core area of the water jet, but on the outside of the core area the current is too low. This difference leads to stress for the aquarium inhabitants, such as coral polyps. TUNZE® Stream pump is a new type of circulation pump, which delivers large water volumes at low pressure and low energy costs. It produces a gentle current in harmony with nature without a hard water jet.
Turbelle Stream comes in different variants with a flow rate of 6,000 to 20,000 liters per hour (1,585 to 5,283 US gal./h), in standard version or electronically controllable with Tunze Controllers.
This pump is designed to run continuously and cannot be used with a controller or wavemaker.

This does what it says but too large in my opinion size wise. No speed control and for a 75 gallon I thought too much. If it was one of their protein skimmers, their as good as it gets. But this was too huge and I would differ on the "soft" output at 1500+gal/hr. It is massive on the tank anywhere you put it. So if you have a 100+ gallon and lots of rock to deflect the beast and no need for speed control this is a great bargain price wise. Their motors can last 15 years with ease! Very Low energy consumption also. Their motor family is the best design out there bar none.

Amazing amount of gentle current, almost too big for my 125g as it actually rearranges my sand in certain areas. Some long standing sand diatom growth was wiped out overnight! Only neg. is mounting brackets are a pain. Size these pumps carefully for what you plan to keep.

i dont know if anybody else had the same problem but the magnetic rotor was broken after 1 year of purchase. This could be a manufacturers fault but i still believe its a top quality product.

this is the best power head i ever used. It gives a good flow in my 95 gallon cube, does not add any heat to water temp.i would definitely recommend this pump to anyone who want good water movement.

Everything the manufacturer claims it is. Very reliable and easy to clean as well. Does not blow fish around like standard power heads, and despite being far more powerful, uses much less electricity.

best thing going for SPS

Comments:
While a closed loop system running from an i sump pump would be slightly better asthetically, the TUNZE pump is still the best thing going for the SPS keeper looking to add turbulent water flow.

This unit is not a power head. It's a turbine. If you are a serious reef reefer, I would recommend you to get one. Don't waste your money on a regular powerhead. Min 120gal tank and up.
