CaribSea

CaribSea Life Rock

Please make a selection

LifeRock™ Don’t just put rocks in your tank, ROCK YOUR REEF with LifeRock™. Amazing porosity, incredible biological performance (drops ammonia like real live rock), and unsurpassed realism make LifeRock™ the best and most cost effective rock choice for any aquarist.

So real, so ready. Are you?

It is safe for all fish and inverts, and is an aragonitic base material (does not contain cement), requires no curing, and is infused with spored, live bacteria. Once placed in water, the dormant bacteria will come alive and begin to colonize: helping to speed up the cycling process. CaribSea Life Rock is colored to simulate real coralline algae so you don`t have to wait 6-8 months for coralline algae to grow to have a mature-looking tank.

We recommend 1 to 2 lbs. of rock per gallon of aquarium water. 1 pound per gallon for a open-water landscape with more space for your fish to swim. 2 pounds per gallon for a denser landscape so you can create more caves/crevices and more area to place your corals.

Quick Facts
- Great for marine fish-only or reef tanks
- The ultimate liverock alternative
- Eco-Friendly and economical

Please Note: Each box will contain a variety of rocks of different sizes and shapes. We are unable to take any special requests for rocks of a particular dimension or size. Because of the fragile nature of this rock, it is possible for the rock to break during shipment. We do our best to package the rock sufficiently to minimize damages. As UPS does not consider this item insurable, we are unable to replace or refund damaged pieces. It is possible to attach multiple pieces together using aquarium epoxy in order to make large shelves or repair damaged rock.

Q
How do you cycle a new tank with this rock
Asked : Oct 10, 2018
By : Greg, Dallas

A
Hi Greg, Cycling with any kind of dry rock even that infused with bacteria requires the same process. Add saltwater, a source of ammonia such as Dr. Tim's Ammonium Chloride or a table shrimp and beneficial bacteria such as Brightwell Microbacter 7 or Dr Tim's One and Only. Check ammonia levels daily and when 2ppm is able to fall within 24 hours to 0, your tank is cycled.

Q
On average, how many pieces are in a 20 lb box? How about density?
Asked : Sep 29, 2018
By : Chase , Greenville NC

A
Hi Chase, the manufacturer says this on their product "Please Note: Each box will contain a variety of rocks of different sizes and shapes.". For this reason we are not sure what will be in the box that you receive. As for density - some life rock shapes are arches and others are small boulders. Over-all the product itself it not as porous as say, Pukani, might be. However if you read the reviews - you will see that it is a good choice for most aquarists.

REVIEW
I purchased 160 pounds of this rock. I was hoping to be able to give this rock a 5 star review but that's just not the case. The rock is colored nicely. It looks somewhat realistic in terms of algae growth. The rock has nice shapes. Most were between the size of a football and a softball. The proble...Read More

Better than live or dry rock that needs to be cured. Great value. Pieces are varied sizes and full of indents and holes perfect for coral placement. Does not adversely affect water parameters and no nitrate spike noticed after a week in the tank.

Replacing my live rock with Caribsea was a good choice. Existing rock had no color and was unsightly so I went with coralline look to enhance both fish and coral coloration.
