Solid Skimmer for price point
reviewerbadge
PROS
Works great. Does what its suppose to.
CONS
Off balance, easily can tip. Motor only supported by attachment to skimmer.
REVIEW
I have used reef Octopus skimmers in the past with no issues, so I bought this one for my new 80 gallon reef. Works efficiently at removing waste and not too noisy. For the money its a solid product.

Reef Octopus 110

PROS
Adjustable when in place in your sump, super efficient, easy to clean. More than enough power.
CONS
It is very sensitive to the water level in your sump that small amounts of evaporation render it useless
REVIEW
Skimmer is great, but make sure you check your sump.
The size is bigger than the given foot print. One must have at lease 7" x 8.5" in your sump. I find it to be too much for a reefer 250 but otherwise great product.

Great skimmer

PROS
Quiet, easy to operate and assemble.
CONS
I don’t like how the pump is only supported by the piping of the skimmer.
REVIEW
The break in process was quick and produced a steady skim within a few days of usage.

This skimmer is the bomb. Super quiet!
reviewerbadge
PROS
Quiet, 15 minutes from box to sump, easy adjustment, great skims.
CONS
Off balance a bit, no step to step instructions on assembly for the less intuitive people.
REVIEW
Following the instructions this skimmer was easy to assemble and install. I will note there isn't really a set by step assembly, however the exploded view was easy enough to follow. I ran it wide open for a few days and have been closing the valve slightly each day to get my desired skim wetness. Do...Read More

Off-balanced Skimmer

reviewerbadge
PROS
Gate valve is very precise for setting correct skimming level. Skims average... Diameter at the top of the internal cup cone is 2.25 inches.
CONS
Somewhat off-balanced because of the pump connection offset to the side of the skimmer body. Some noise due to pump vibration on glass and air intake.
REVIEW
The circulation pump is connected to the side of the skimmer body, extending out about 5 inches; and, the pump sits about 2 inches above the bottom of your sump and the bottom plate of the skimmer. This could cause problems if your water level isn't perfectly set. Also, when you install the skimme...Read More
