Seachem SeaChem Purigen is a premium synthetic adsorbent that is unlike any other filtration product. It is not a mixture of ion exchangers or adsorbents, but a unique macro-porous synthetic polymer that removes soluble and insoluble impurities from water at a rate and capacity that exceeds all others, even HyperSorb, by over 500%. Purigen; removes proteins, nitrites and nitrates, ammonia, and a broad spectrum of organics, yet its impact on trace elements is minimal. It significantly raises redox. It polishes water to unparalleled clarity. Like HyperSorb, Purigen darkens progressively as it exhausts, and is easily renewed by treating with household bleach. A 100 mL bag of Purigen purifies and polishes up to 100 gallons of water for up to six months. Purigen is designed for both marine and freshwater use.

I have a 180 Gallon. Whats the best way to use Purigen? In sump / reactor or filtrer sock ? How much do I use and how often do I need to change?

A
The Purigen will need to be placed inside a fine-mesh filter bag. Once in the bag, you can either place it in a high flow area of your sump, in a canister filter or in a reactor. How frequently it needs to be replaced depends on how dirty your water is. It can last a few days or a few weeks. Just check it periodically. If the media becomes dark brown, it is time to recharge it or replace it.

REVIEW
Whenever I place a new bag in my tank, the water is crystal clear. No ammonia, no nitrates, no nitrites. When the bag mixture turns light brown, I don't soak it in anything. I just throw it away and replace it every 2 months. It's more convenient for me. Besides, I don't think soaking anything in bl...Read More
