Searching for an upgrade to a beta fish and bowl for my 12 year old, i was talked into buying a 13 gallon display aquarium and going saltwater. My passion for the hobby quickly took hold and after going through two in tank skimmers that worked o.k., i chose the AquaC hang-on to create more room inside the display tank. Unlike other reviews and the product data stating it can take 1 to 2 weeks before skimming, mine started dry skimming in 3 to 4 days.
I actually mounted this skimmer on the side/end of my tank instead of the back so the pump that hangs in the water from the intake nozzle isn't so obnoxious looking. As reviewed, it is pretty noisy because of the air jets, but i consider it a nice white noise.
I'd advise there being a picture of what this looks like with the pump hanging on it, or the skimmer video by MarineDepot i found after the fact. No big deal for a tank with a back sump, but not ideal for just an old fashioned display tank.Hide

The skimmer is already making foam and collecting brown water.The one thing I don't care for,is the way the pump looks in the tank,bit it is growing on me a bit.I have faith in the instructions and expect the sound level to

Micro bubble factory from HELL. I never produced any foam what so ever probably the mj900 was not strong enough to create any. My tiny airstone skimmer pulls better skimmate than this thing. Returning it ASAP ill take w/e I can get back and learn from this experience.

This is the third skimmer that I have used over the years, and by far the best. Having tried both the air stone and Venturi/vortex types, I can easily say that the remora's spray system is MUCH easier to use (no worries about how much air to mix in), and produces more foam. Foam quality is easy to adjust, and emptying and cleaning are a breeze. Just make sure you read the specs and have enough clearance over your tank or sump. Since it is HOB it does stick up pretty high, although its footprint within the tank itself is quite small.Hide
