Over time, a green algae film forms on aquarium glass. An algae scraper uses a blade to scrape the glass clean. Algae scrapers come with different size handles to support different tank depths. Most scrapers have metal blades, but an acrylic aquarium algae scraper will use a softer plastic blade that doesn't scratch acrylic. An algae scraper is great for coralline algae removal, which usually requires more elbow grease than film algae.
