Aquatic Life's T5HO Hybrid Lighting Fixture lets you combine your favorite LED light module between two banks of T5 lights. The T5 lights are powered by HEP Ballasts for fast firing and excellent color rendition. Each T5 lamp has their own reflector and is held in by traditional bulb clips that have a plastic coating to protect your bulb. Aquatic Life has even gone above and beyond by including silicone end caps that make changing bulbs super fast and easy.
When you combine LED and T5 lighting you can have the best of both worlds. T5 lighting has a proven track record with their full spectrum bulbs and edge to edge coverage, and almost anyone can have success with the right fluorescent lamps. Being in the 21st century everything we own must have some type of control, and that is where T5 fails, but LED shines. LED lights are known for their ability to ramp up and down giving dusk to dawn effects while being able to change colors and spectrums throughout the day as well. LED lights provide great shimmer, and when paired with T5 lights almost creates a realistic look that you would actually find in a shallow reef.
Pair the Aquatic Life Hybrid fixture with some of the most popular LEDs like Kessil, Ecotech, or Aqua Illumination for a successful combination of T5 and LED lighting. Each hybrid fixture includes two different mounts that can accept some of the larger lights like the Kessil A360 and Aqua Illumination Hydra FiftyTwo HD, but also some of the smaller modules like the AI Prime HD and Ecotech XR15w lights.

Tuning Your New LED Light
Most LED lights will actually put out more light than your corals will actually need and without a PAR Meter to test the overall output, it is really hard to guess if the light is too dim or intense. We highly suggest using a PAR Meter to test the output of your lights at different points throughout your tank that you can use to tune the lights output or know where to put specific corals.

I’m looking at converting my 65 gal fresh water tank into salt water and lighting has been at the top of my discussions. Looking at your 36" Hybrid T5HO 4x39W Fixture is seems that it does not come with any lights. My question is, what can this $300 fixture do that a fixture to house T5 bulbs from Lowes cannot do.

The Aquatic Life has the ability to add in LEDs to the fixture with manufactured brackets. You can use a T5 fixture from a hardware store if you would like. These ones are just designed with Reefing in mind.

While it does not include brackets made specifically for use with the A160s I believe you would be able to use the included brackets with some modifications. There has been talk of additional accessories being available for this light in the near future but I have not heard anything regarding the A160's specifically.

The light brackets sit in channels and can be position at any point along the length of the light.
I think a 3' fixture would work just fine provided you place more demanding corals directly under the fixture as the ends of the tank will have significantly lower par than the middle. If you are going to a mixed reef this shouldn't be an issue. If you are going for a tank packed with SPS corals the extra $30 for the 4' fixture is going to be money well spent.

With 7" of space between lights the Radion XR30 is a perfect fit, the light even includes brackets compatible with you light.
The included mounting brackets for the Aquatic Life fixture are able to be used with the AI Hydra series lights, without the need for additional mounts. Soon additional mounts from Aquatic Life should be available as a standalone, for those who need more than the ones included with the fixture. :-)
Are we able to use the black box light fixtures specifically the SBreeflight (16"x8"x3") with this?
Unfortunately we do not have the specific dimensions of that light or other "Black Box" style lights, however the spacing between the T5's on the Aquatic Life fixture is around 7" inches. In many cases, if your fixture is less than 7" wide, you may be able to configure it to the T5 Hybrid light. :-)

The current configuration of the Hybrid T5 fixture has an opening of 7" and the Atlantik V4 is approximately 9.5" inches wide so it will not work.
That being said, there has been talk of accessories for the hybrid including new side plates that may allow you to extend that space beyond 7". Unfortunately we have not yet received any of those accessories yet so I cannot guarantee any measurements at this time.

Thanks for getting in touch with us in regards to this light fixture allowing for the mounting of the Halo LED fixture. I am not familiar with this light hands on, but based off the images that I found online, and the brackets that we have for this T5, I would say that these would easily mount into this unit.
