Smart Buddie Booster Pump - 50 to 100 GPD RO and RO/DI Systems

YOUR Water MADE Better - Increase the effectiveness of your RO system!

Reverse osmosis booster pumps are used to increase the pressure going into your RO or RO/DI system which make it operate more efficiently and can decrease consumption of DI resin. Designed as an accessory for Reverse Osmosis units in areas with low water pressure, or for users that want maximum output and the best quality filtered water from their RO systems. The Smart Buddie booster pump is quiet, easy to install, and can significantly increase water output. Reverse osmosis is a pressure-driven process. Small residential RO units will theoretically operate on very low pressure--down to 35 psi--but the reality is you won`t get a lot of water and the product water quality may be compromised if the unit runs below 45 psi. RO units typically run well on municipal water pressure of 60 psi, but they run even better with a small pump to boost the pressure to 80 psi or higher. The increased pressure will also improve the economy of the unit (it will run less waste water) as well as the quality of the water. RO units thrive on pressure!

Product Features:
  • The high pressure switch turns off the booster pump if the filtered water pressure is greater than 33.35 PSI, prolonging the life of the pump. Buddie Fit press-fittings make it easy to plumb tubing into the existing RO system.
  • The sealed pressure pump is low-voltage and powered by the included transformer, which ensures safe, quiet operation. Easily plumb into most reverse osmosis systems to increase water pressure up to 90 PSI and reduce waste water. RO units thrive on pressure!
  • The Smart Buddie Booster Pump includes an internal automatic flush valve that flushes the membrane for 18 seconds every time the unit is activated. Flushing clears debris build-up on the membrane, and is critical to obtaining peak performance from the RO unit. After flushing filtered water production will begin.
  • Low pressure switch turns off the booster pump if water pressure is less than 7.25 PSI, extending the life of the pump.
  • Internal check valve included
  • Tubing and elbows included for convenient installation
  • Dimensions: 11.75"L x 5.88"W x 7.88"H
Includes:
  • Low-voltage Pump, Internal Automatic Flush Valve, High & Low Pressure Auto Shut-off
  • 1/4" x 10 ft Tubing in blue, red, and yellow
  • 90 Degree press fit elbow fittings
  • Instruction manual

OK Booster Pump

Pros: Automatic RO Membrane Flush

Cons: boosted pressure

OK, so it's overall OK. If I were to install a booster pump again, I would install one with an adjustable pressure. This is an easy to install and easy to use system. It is quiet and performs well, but I am very disappointed with the discharge pressure. I would have preferred to have one with a higher discharge pressure which is adjustable. This pump actually generates less pressure than my old permeate pump that worked off of city water pressure. Disappointed over all.

AquaticLife Smart Buddie Booster Pump

Pros: High quality, well made unit, very easy to install, more quiet than expected, does what it says

Cons: An on/off switch would be nice and a little long power cord

After using a "budget" rodi unit for a couple of years now and never being satisfied with the quality of my product water, the amount of time it took to make the water and extinguishing resin at a rapid pace, I decided to upgrade to a KlearWater 4 Stage system from Marine Depot. After installing it I FOUND the problem! I only had about 40 PSI of water pressure. Purchased the Smart Buddie about a week later. One of the best purchases I've ever made in 30 odd years in the hobby! Now I'm making higher quality water and at a much faster pace. And much less waste going down the drain! I'm anxious to see how much longer my filters last as compared to my old "budget" system. Some budget! Very happy with this product and it was very easy to install. Thanks to AquaticLife and thanks to Marine Depot!

Smart Buddie Booster Pump

Pros: Simple and easy

Cons: Vibration

I’ve been using this with the Marine Depot KleanWater 6-Stage Advanced RO/DI System - 100 GPD for 3 years now with no problems. The only negative is the pump has some vibration to it. I put a rubber pad underneath the pump to cut down on noise.

Great Booster Pump

Pros: Easy to use, saves water and time, does exactly what it is designed to do, quietly

Cons: Really none, but I do wish it would flush the RO membrane for at least a minute

I recently purchased everything to upgrade my RO/DI to 6 stage and inluded this booster as part of the upgrade. It has cut my time making my weekly water change and top off water in half and with the addition of the inline triple TDS meter the whole process is streamlined. Great product. Even flushing fresh carbon is easy, just disconnect from the booster, run the water to the drain till clear, reconnect and start making water.

Great pump

Pros: Quiet. Saves water. Works amazing.

Cons: None.

I have the aquatic life classic 100 gpd rodi system. When I used just the pressure from my house, the waste was insane and it took 4 hours to fill a 5 gallon bucket. This pump brought my psi up from 40 to 80 and filling the 5 gallon bucket in 1 hour. Filling up my trash can, that I mix my saltwater in, is a lot quicker too of course. It’s pretty much silent, makes cartridges last longer, and saves water on water bill.

Aquatic Life Smart Buddie Booster

Pros: Self contained booster pump. Plug and Play

Cons: doesn't come with RO tubing

Great product. Before this product, my water pressure was about 60PSI which is pretty good. I was getting about a 3 to 1 ration. (3g waster, 1g filtered) and was pretty happy. I decided to try this and I'm happy I did. My water ration is 1 to 1 (1g waste, 1g filtered). At some point it'll pay itself off because I'm using less water. Also, the RO/Di production time increases as well. Usually it would take me about 7 hours to make 30g and now I'm down to about 4 hours. Only downfall of this product is that it does not come with RO tubing but not really a deal breaker.

RO Booster Pump

Pros: Heavy duty well made unit

Cons: None at this point. I gave it a 4 because I would have liked the power cord a few feet longer. Definately not a deal breaker.

My ro system was dribbling until I installed the booster pump. Installation was easy. I suggest you view the installation video. I now get 56 gallons of purified water per day from a 50gpd unit. I am pleased.
