Works great

Pros: Long hose

I have had this water changer for 4 years now. Works great, and long enough that I don't have to put my water changes into a bucket. Now I use a net at the end (to catch any sand) and have the tube go right down my sink.

cheap plastic fails predictabl

Worked ok until cracks developed in the plastic valve parts. I won't be buying another since it will obviously happen again in short time.

Materials Reservations

I have used the Aqueon Water Changer once and find that it does an excellent job of vacuuming the gravel in my 90-gallon aquarium. Have no complaints with respect to its ease of use and efficiency. My concern is with the materials of which it is made: The threaded adaptor nipple that is used to connect the tubing to the tap on my sink is made of plastic; the sink threads are metal. I do not think the plastic threads will last through many uses before they strip and make a otherwise useful, time-saving and labor-saving device useless.

Looks nice but that's it

I have owned several of these in the last few years. Without fail, after about 5 or 10 uses the faucet attachment develops a leak in a spot that is unrepairable. I bought a new one the other day and it seems they have redesigned it...poorly. Now it has less suction. In fact, not enough to even suck through the 50 ft hose in my case. I ended up going back to the older one with the leak and dealing with that rather than use the new one. This product is made to fail so you will have to buy another one. There has to be someone that makes a better product.

Enjoyable experience

I have been using this water changer just for few days, but I am enjoying it very much. It makes the job of changing water so much easier. The only problem I see with it is that plastic parts (especially where you need to screw it on the kitchen tap) will probably not last very long.

Why no metal?

The product is a fantastic concept and does work. However the fact that it has all plastic fittings that will eventually be useless to make good seal is a real disappointment. I was worried about my fish reacting badly to putting the water in the tank directly out of the faucet, without letting it sit as i normally do. No problems so far. Better fittings for longer life, thats my opinion.

New Fisher

Works great. Much better than the previous gravel vacuum that I had. The previous one did not hook to the faucet for siphoning.
