Provide protection for your livestock with this complete Do-It-Yourself Mesh Screen Lid Kit by Innovative Marine.

Glass lids trap in heat, prevent proper evaporation, and can lead to salt creep build up that reduces light penetration. Unlike glass lids, these stylish mesh screen tops are lightweight, allow for proper gas exchange, and have minimal impact on light penetration.

The SafeScreen`s "Snap-In" ridged spline makes for an easy and hassle-free assembly. The spline simply snaps into the rail`s channels, securing the mesh without the need for specialized tools.

Furthermore, the outside rail edges have been crafted with a lip that allows your lid to sit neatly on the inner edge of your aquarium-- no clips or screen holders necessary!

  • Prevents livestock from leaving your tank
  • Powder coated for extra protection
  • Molded "lipped" rails allow screen to sit neatly on the inside rim of your aquarium
  • "Snap-In" plastic ridged spline
  • Breakaway corners allow for cord management
  • Thin clear mesh allows for more light penetration
  • Ample protection 1/4” spacing mesh screen
  • Can be used for framed, and rimless aquariums

Pros: All Good

Cons: None

By far the best lid kit I have used. Take your time measuring and cutting. Perfect for the fluval 13.5.

Does what it needs to do for my fluval 13.5

Pros: Sizing, strong mesh, strong plastic corners

Cons: Easily scratched

Sucks that it gets scratches easy but the mesh is strong enough and I absolutely love the fact that you can literally make this any way you need it to based on the size you purchase. I would buy this again if I need to.

Midas Blenny Jumped out anyway

Cons: Screen is so large that even a 5 inch long midas blenny jumped out to its death.

The mesh is too big. My fairly large midas blenny jumped clean through it even though it fit perfectly.

Wish there were frame corners available for inside corners and inside-outside corners

Pros: Excellent finish, sturdy.

Cons: Lack of availability of parts for inside corners, and inside-outside corners.

I was planning to build the cover with an inner opening at the back to accommodate my external hanging filter (Tetra Whisper 40 Power Filter), but the frame corners are for outside corners only. Bought an extra set of corners (for the Marineland brand; the only parts available) but they are also for outside frame corners only. Wish IM will make inside frame corner parts, and inside-outside frame corner parts, for those of us who want to accommodate openings for filters etc. Not everyone can use a perfectly square mesh/hood. If those can be made available with feet that are half-the length of those currently supplied outside frame corners, they can be put to use quite easily by a DIY to customize their hood.

Not bad for the price

Pros: Affordable, not bad looking. Does sit on top of the tank flushed pretty much.

Cons: I like looking at neat equipment and the bottom even though you don’t see it, when you lift it up you can see your mess you created

It’s DIY lid and it does its job. Yes there’s some cutting involved but not to bad.

Could have been a perfect diy mesh lid kit

Pros: Sits flush inside tank

Cons: Cosmetic and fitment issues

I like that there's a lip around the outside edge so that the lid sits flush with the top of the tank without needing plastic tabs. There's also breakable corner tabs to allow cords through. Could have been a perfect kit if not for the bad marring on the rails from them rubbing against each other in the packaging. The fitment on a few of the corner inserts were too loose so the whole thing was flimsy and made it hard to put on the mesh. A drop of superglue at the joints took care of that. Also the plastic clips to hold the mesh down were overly hard to snap on.
