AUQA Shield UV Sterilizer - Innovative Marine AUQA Gadget - Universal 10W
Your First Line of Defense Cloudy water, Algae and parasites lead to the frustration of many hobbyists. The main reason why these problems occur is that each multiplies quickly; free floating in the tank, unseen to the naked eye. Only when it’s too late, the hobbyist becomes aware of their presence. By adding a UV Sterilizer into your aquarium, you can minimize the risk of these problems occurring.
Germicidal UV lights have been used for decades by the medical industry as a method for killing micro-organisms. This type of light has proven that it is effective in reducing the free-floating micro-organisms that pass directly through the light rays.
The AUQA Shield harnesses the UV-C technology and encompasses it within a germicidal fluorescent lamp that produces light at a wavelength of approximately 254 nanometers. The infected water passes over the bulb, the wavelength travels through the water, penetrates the pathogens and mutates their DNA destroying their ability to multiply and after time will eventually perish.
The AUQA Shield was designed to target free floating aquatic nuisances, by dramatically halting the spread of infections , saving your livestock from fatal health diseases, improving the clarity of your water and overall health of your aquarium.

No, I would not recommend this.
Not good for rimmed sumps
Pros: Small, no special plumbing needed
Cons: Low power, won’t hang on rimmed sumps
I have a trigger sump which has a rim around its top. I thought this unit could just stand up in the sump like most media reactors work. But the small pump just attaches to the bottom of the lamps cover and it won’t stand up on its own. The unit comes with an acrylic holder that is supposed to hang over the sump edge, but it won’t go over my sumps edge. It has about 1/4” opening for a rank wall. I hung it over an interior divider instead. If you don’t have inside dividers and a tall sump, it make not work that well either to ensure the pump is submerged.
Also note this requires 2 outlets. One for the pump and one for the lamp.
We’ll see how effective this is on my 65 gal tank. I’m not expecting miracles but thought I’d try it.

Yes, I would recommend this.
Fits in Waterbox 20 gal Cube
Pros: Fits in Waterbox 20 gal Cube
Cons: Instructions not informative
I've got this UV unit in the filtration chamber of my Waterbox 20 gal Cube and it fits perfectly. The dimensions of the actual product are difficult to find, but its 12" long with 2" diameter. It even leaves room for the Eshopps Nano Skimmer alongside it. The one drawback is that the instructions are not very informative and a plastic "knob" that helps regulate the flow snapped off the disposable lamp unit. It still works, but kinda inconvenient and will be replaced when I replace the bulb.
