Multiple Flow Modes
Lagoon Mode
Simulating a low-energy lagoon. The QuietDrive motor slowly changes, recreating the gentle currents of a lagoon environment.
Reef Crest Mode
Simulating currents found around high energy reefs. The pump changes speed frequently emulating crashing waves and tidal surges.This is a great mode for SPS corals.
Gyre Mode
Uniform circular flow creates motions that help transports water from one side of the tank to the other. With two pumps paired in Gyre Mode, you can oscillate between a clockwise and counterclockwise gyre that lasts from 2 seconds to 2 hours.
Short Pulse Mode
Strong short pulses that can be set at intervals of 0.2 seconds up to 2 seconds. This mode can create a standing wave in your tank with the correct frequency.
Tidal Swell Mode
A harmonic balance of the ever changing conditions found in the ocean. TSM will vary from calm flow all the way up to chaotic high flow and it even has a pre-programmed detritus cleaning surge that will help suspend particles to be swept into the filtration system.
Nutrient Transport Mode
NTM is programmed to create a two-phase circulation flow mode. Phase one consists of wave motions to help stir up and suspend detritus while the second phase incorporates surging motions to help push particles towards the overflow and down into the filter system. This is our favorite mode and is especially great for sensitive corals like LPS and SPS.
Function Modes
Feed Mode
Pause all of your wireless Ecotech Pumps at the push of a button. Pumps will turn down to an idle speed allowing you to feed your tank without the food being pushing into rocks or into the filtration system.
Night Mode
Simulate a calmer environment for night time hours. Night Mode can be enabled or disabled with custom hours programmed to automatically turn on and off.
Wave Auto Tune Mode

Hi Gregory,
The flow requirements of your reef are going to depend largely on what types of corals you wish to keep. Your aquascape and coral placement are also going to be factors here so being able to spread that flow throughout the tank is going to be important.
Soft corals for instance would likely be happy with 2 MP40's running at 50% or less where as a tank full of mature SPS colonies could require as many as 4 or more to ensure optimal flow.
I think a safe starting point for a new reef would be to aim for 20x turn over rate within the tank taking into account that you are unlikely to run the pumps at 100% for any sustained period of time. You can always add more MP40's (or any other type of powerhead) to suit your need as the tank matures.

You have the ability to crank them up for high flow environments as well as tone them down for a lower flow environment. Ecotech Vortech Pumps can be synced with their wireless controllers. If your current pump is an EcoSmart version, then it should be compatible to be controlled with a new QuietDrive driver and pump. You will need two controllers but through the wireless connection feature, you can control the slave pump from the master's controller.

Each powerhead connects directly to its driver, and drivers can only control one pump. If you get the wireless pump drivers, they do have the ability to be synchronized wirelessly with each other for different flow modes.

I have a 24x24x24 cube. I think my flow needs would be somewhere on the high end of the MP 10 and the low end of the MP 40. I would like the powerhead to be very quiet. Will I see much difference in the noise of these two pumps with the MP10 running high power or the MP 40 at low power?

Great question! With the newest QuietDrive technology from EcoTech Marine, both of these pumps are extremely quiet! As far as flow requirements for your cube, I would recommend the MP40s over the MP10s. It is a nice feature that you can dial down the flow of the MP40s rather than hope the MP10s will be enough at full power, better yet, they will grow with you for a future tank upgrade! ;-)

On a 180g tank, as a reef tank you would want to get at least two pumps since one most likely won’t be able to provide flow once the rock and corals are added. By having two pumps, you can truly create random flow from multiple directions. We find having a single flow direction can actually hinder coral growth and lead to some un-natural growth patterns as well.

Both will work well! The Mp40 as a low profile easy to use features with no cables in the aquarium. The Gyre if you are looking for the unique gyre flow across the entire tank. Both will suit your needs perfectly! (The xf130 would be a great fit)

These say they have a night time mode, is that setting achieved manually?
Can the Reeflink be programed to control the night mode it so it goes on/off automatically so I don't have to do it.

The night mode will trigger and last for a set amount of time if manually programmed to do so per the instructions. The same will go for the feed mode. In Reef link you will be able to further program the settings to turn on and off at specific times or after the original feed mode has been set. I have a 300 gallon 8 ft long peninsula tank. I was thinking of getting 2 mp40's and wondering if this will be enough to move the water from one end and back as I plan to have both pumps on the end that is against the wall instead of one on each end.
