Well Made Fixture

I have been running the Cebu Sun 72" fixture with 250 W MH Bulbs for over 5 years now on a 220 Gal - 26" deep tank. The SPS and LPS coral growth has been spectacular. After 4 years I replaced the vent fans and T5 bulb receptacles due to cracking / brittleness from heat. Other than these parts swap, the fixture has performed well, is rugged and well made. Simply cant argue with the success of the coral growth, reluctant to switch to LEDs.

Good solid contruction

I've gone through several lighting systems over the past 10 years keeping a reef tank. In about 2011 I switched from 2x250W MH/T5 to 4 x 75W LED (Maxspect Mazarra) hoping to save power and lower heat input. The colors produced by the LED were awesome, however, I had trouble keeping specific types of coral happy. When I moved the corral to a friend's tank under MH the corals show major improvement. I've experimented over the years with several LED options, and have not been able to get the desired coral growth. I've just swapped out $1600 worth of LEDs for the 48" 400W inch Hamilton model. The system is simple and solid. It's easy to install and does the job it's intended for without much fuss. The light output is as good as it gets. As far as the complaints about 7 power cords. There is method to this madness. In many advanced aquarium setups, it is desired to control each element separately. In my case, I want to separate the T5 power load from the MH across 2 independent 20A power circuits. Also, in the evening I want to only operate one T5. Bottom line the separate cords add flexibility. If you want to combine the cords to a single plug simply use a power splitter cord. (link removed)

Cebu 72"

I've had my 72"x18"x24", 125 tank going for almost two years and actually went backwards with my lighting. I started with LED's and now I'm using the Hamilton 250 watt X 3. Unlike the LED's, this unit covers every square inch and leaves no dead spots. I was not getting good coral coloration from my LED's and now I've brought back my SPS. The cons are that this thing hurts the power bills.

Great Luminosity

Purchased the Cebu Sun 250 watt/14000k for a 180 gallon tank. The entire tank is well covered with this light. The colors in the fish and corals are vivid, but most importantly the SPS corals seem to be responding well to it. It still produces a fantastic look, even when the T5s are the only lights that are on. I have gone through several aquarium light fixtures in my 20+ years of having salt water tanks. This light fixture, with the exception on all the power cords running from it (7 in all), has proven to be much better than any of the others I have had. It was the seven (7) power cords that caused me to rate it at 4.5 stars.
