CPR`s AquaFuge2 hang-on refugiums come in three different sizes to meet the needs of marine aquarists.

Recently redesigned with a black acrylic backing to prevent light from transfering to the main aquarium, each model comes with a powerhead and features a unique baffle system. This prevents the substrate and organisms from being disturbed yet also allows enough water to flow through the eliminate any stagnant areas.

The AquaFuge2 provides ideal growth conditions for food items, such as copepods and ampipods, to feed invertebrates and fish in the main tank.

It provides a controlled growing area for macroalgae, which can be used to reduce "nuisance" algae in the main tank and provided a "nursery" area for a variety of organisms.

In 2011, a new outlet tray was added to improve the water return system.

**Please Note: The AquaFuge 2 does not come with a light fixture, although lighting is needed to meet the needs of your refugium inhabitants. Click here for CPR Lighting Options.

CPR Aquatic Aquarium Supplies
In Arcata, located in Northern California, the sea is a way of life. From the advanced Marine Biology department at Humboldt State University, just up the hill from CPR’s headquarters, to Humboldt Bay, about a mile west, CPR is nestled in a perfect environment to develop equipment for marine aquariums. CPR was started in a small garage in 1987 to produce biological filters for local aquarists. People who used CPR filters were impressed by the high quality and affordable prices. Word spread and the company grew. Since then, CPR has expanded to a 10,000 sq. ft. production facility and has developed many innovative products over the years. CPR is incorporating new ideas and technologies all the time. Their goal is to allow aquarists to place the highest performing products in their tanks at reasonable prices.

Excellent for smaller tanks

This is a great product, though that should come as no surprise. CPR makes quality stuff. I have this hanging on the back of a 25g cube. It holds some Chaeto and a Tunze skimmer no problem. I also had a heater in there before purchasing a titanium heater which I placed in the display tank as I've read stories of titaniums melting acrylic. If you're looking for a HOB fuge then this is it. I was running a modded AC70 but this knocks that out of the park and isn't that much more of an investment than going the DIY route. Well worth the money.

CPR makes great products

Great product. The small size was enough for me to get my copepod population growing. I added live rock, chaeto, sand in my refugium.

Used in combination with the CPR cyclone wet/dry complete package, you don't have to worry about the sump overflowing if the electric goes out. The water doesn't fill the sump after the tanks drain! The added light with acrylic stand really makes the refugium glow like the moon. I use aragonite reef sand, and rock frags to get the moonlike reflection.

Quick and easy HOB

This is my second HOB refugium. My first was a Reef Octopus model that was similar. It had a pipe on the outflow and was entirely clear plastic. The result was constant overflowing of the refugium, a horrible sucking/slurping sound, and light bleed through to the main display. The supply piping had a hard plumbed connection for a very specific pump, and he HOB refugium came with the pump, the problem was it was not adjustable until customer support sent me a valve to install. Even then it took weeks to get it fully functional. Not the case with the CPR Aquafuge2. My only concern was how weak the pump to fuge connection felt, but I compensated for that by tie-wrapping the power cord to the inlet piping so the pump's weight is getting support. No danger of overflowing with the outlet design, and power losses are something that you never have to worry about because of that outlet. I bought the medium and I put my heater in it as well, so it cleared up my main display area quite abit. I also use the area on the internal refugium inlet side to put a bag of chemipure elite and removed my Fluval 206 canister filter entirely as the included RIO pump has about the same flow rate as the Fluval. I can't say enough good things about this HOB refugium.

Best hang on back Refugium

Ok I don't usually give reviews but I had to for this one. First of all the quality on the HOB refugium is top notch, the set up was a breeze. It took me 5 minutes and I am a beginner in this hobby. I did extensive research about refugium and came to a decision to buy this one thanks in part to NewYorkSteelo from YouTube. I saw that he uses it and gave it really high marks. So far this thing is amazing. I am using this with Fiji Mud on bottom, rubble rock on top and some chaetomorphia algae for a 25 gallon reef tank. Wow, no disturbance of the mud and water is crystal clear. This tank is on my bedroom and the refugium is very very very quiet. No one knows I have a reef tank in my bedroom unless I tell them, yes it's that quiet. The package was overpacked thanks to marinedepot. It was packed so well I thought I was getting a mini fridge lol. I am extremely happy I got this refugium but even more happy I got from marinedepot.com

refugium large

Im a beginner when it comes to refugiums but intermediate on the fish tanks. The refugium was well packaged and set up was really easy. It did not come with how to instruction but it is so simple and easy u dont need any instructions.it throws out micro bubbles at first like they said it would, but its only been 3 days now sence I hung it and tye bubbles have reduced very much. I do recomend u rince it like they ask, i believe that helped alot. I also got light to refugium and have to block the light with cardboard at night from shineing its light into display tank. I reccomend you buy something that helps with that. The clack background is great. I painted the out side back of my 55 gallon tank back with 3 coats of black paint that also helps. I would recomend this product to my friens. Its alot easier and more inexpensive then the under cabinet refugium. 4 stars.
