Hydor Koralia Circulation Pump

Pros: Smaller in diameter and uses less wattage than the Koralia 1200 I had before.

Cons: For me, if the electric cord was a foot longer would have been great. (not much of a con though)

I had a koralia circulation 1200 gph pump finally go bad on me, after 12 years of constant use in a 180 gallon marine tank. So it was a no brainer to purchase another Hydor Koralia. This time I purchased a 1500 gph pump and it is a little smaller in diameter and also uses less watts. It states it uses 7 watts , where the 1200 gph used 12.

Perfect for mixing stations. Affordable and reliable.

Pros: Affordable, reliable, and it's nice to have a strong magnet to keep it in place.

Cons: Good for mixing stations and smaller tanks, but maybe consider a gyre for larger tanks or higher flow demanding tanks i.e. SPS dominant, mixed reef

I purchased this pump for my 44 gal Brute container for mixing salt. I was tired of having precipitant build up because of lack of water movement when mixing larger batches, so I decided to get a larger powerhead to do the job. After watching BRSTV's series on saltwater mixing and storage, it's evident that in most cases when the water has constant movement for the first couple of days, there is less precipitant. I now keep my new saltwater with constant flow and this does the job great. Affordable and reliable.

Good pump

Pros: Lasts for years and easy to pull apart to clean the innards.

Cons: none

I bought my 1st Hydor 1500 four years ago and it's still working but making a funny noise every now and then after 4 years of constant use in my 55 gallon reef tank. The 1500 is easy to clean every 3 months. This is a good buy.
