Kessil`s unique, efficient Dense Matrix LED array is built in-house and packs high-power and deep penetration onto a single small chip.

Efficiency

Spectrums
The result of years of research and testing, our aquarist-specific spectrums ensure vibrant coloration and prolific growth.

A beautiful disappointment

Pros: Aesthetically pleasing, Nicely made, decent price

Cons: Practically useless. Too weak for anything but Mushrooms and Algae

I was so excited when I heard Kessil was making an affordable nano LED reef light! Stoked for their famous, beautiful shimmer effect and ease of use. Sadly, that is the only good thing about it. I have this light on my 10 gallon reef tank and it is now a refugium because basically zero corals will grow under this light. While it is beautifully made, and aesthetically pleasing, the light itself is a huge disappointment. If you don't want to keep ANYTHING other than Discosoma Mushrooms and Caulerpa Mexicana, this is the light for you lol.

Kessil A80 does its job

Pros: Small size, sleek look, price point

Cons: None

Overall it’s an ok light. Small size makes for a sleek look on smaller nano’s. The price is right for the budget minded that want to grow coral. It will do this. Soft corals with ease. Lps for the most part. SPS to an extent. Placement is definitely critical. However for the techies it’s lacking. Without adding a controller of some sort you basically have a light you turn on and set manually or add a timer of sorts to automate it a bit. The Kessil Spectral controller makes things nice allowing you to automate the lighting schedule. But doing so puts you at the same price of some of their other lights that have a lot more features and from my own experience better spectrums. All in all, if you’re on a budget and or want a small sleek fixture the Kessil A80 should fit the bill.

Great for lighting a Nudibranch tank

Pros: small mounting bracket which allows me to mount the light under a book shelf

Cons: none

I purchased this little light to grow Bergiah Nudibranchs and so far so good. I found the color spectrum is very suited for their habitat.
