Ruined my tank

I did as the instructions suggested, and it left a haze with fine scratches which would not go away. Even when repeating the steps. I sure it works great for a professional who is failure with using it, but I don't have the time or resources to practice on perfecting how to use this product. I will try Novus. Need a better product that removes scratches under water. I would not recommend this product to someone who is not failure with polishing on a regular basis.

This really DOES work!

Pros: Easy to use. Directions explain thoroughly how to use the product. Does what it claims. Worth every penny.

Cons: Pre-printed sandpaper numbers came off, but I wrote them back on with a ball point pen.

I ended up with about a foot-long bunch of scratches from substrate getting caught in the Mag float cleaner, which literally made me sick to my stomach as my first 75 acrylic tank wasn't even a year old. Prior I had a glass tank and didn't have to worry as much as I do with this tank as far as scratches. I figured I was going to have to just suck it up and live with the scratches, which seemed heightened when algae would form. I thought I would check Marine Depot as I get all my aquarium products here and was so surprised they carry this.

I read all the reviews here and figured it's worth a try.It is a slow process and one has to be deliberate and patient. I worked on the reef tank (fish/coral/vertebrates still in w/the water not being drained) for about 20 minutes doing just what the directions say, go horizontal, NOT CIRCULAR with one grade of sandpaper, then switch out to the next grade, going vertical, switch out to the next grade going horizontal, etc.

IT WORKS! Slow, steady, and patience is the secret.

The only con is the pre-printed numbers faded off the sandpaper pads pretty quickly, but I kept them in order and then took a ballpoint pen and marked the Velcro side with their numbers.

I highly, highly recommend this product. You will not be disappointed.

Ruined Tank Waste Time Money

I bought this based on the positive reviews. I spent hours sanding and it did nothing but haze and ruin the acrylic surface. Now I'm going to try novus which seemed to work better based on youtube videos.

Scratch remover

I have had my 250 gallon acrylic tank for over 3 years and had a bunch of pesky scratches on the tank bottom from cleaning. When I finally scratched the middle of the tank in plane view did I decide I needed to give this product a try. I was a little nervous about the process since I could not remove the water or all of my fish and coral. However, the pads are really fine. They take off a small layer only. I have been using the 3200 and 4000 pads. Whatever is being sanded down has not affected my fish or corals. I have not worked vigorously on the scratches in fear to leave too much residue that would harm the fish, but I have noticed an improvement in appearance. I figure to spend 5-10 minutes every week on the scratches while I'm doing my weekly maintenance cleaning on the tank until all of the scratches are gone. I would recommend this product for those that need to fix some scratches on their tank while it's still full of livestock.

Not as simple as advertized

Not as simple as advertized. I don't know where all these positive reviews are coming from. I will give the manufacture the benefit of the doubt. It left a haze on a test spot that I could not get to go away. Tried twice. I will assume that in the hands of an experienced person this may work. I found it hard to tell when to go from one grit to the next. There is now a haze on my lid that will not go away.

Yay

Totally works!! It's been a week and fish are great. Was worried about them but worked under water. Didn't use polisher liquid of course. Just make sure you do every step without skipping. I skipped and had to go back which took a long time.

Awsome!!

Great product for removing scratches from acrylic Tanks. Had several small scratches from sand on cleaning pad. They were quickly and easily removed. I did not have to remove fish and there has been no affect on corals in my tank. A little expensive but it works great.

It works!

Like so many others here, a piece of rock got caught in my mag float and it created a footlong scratch on the interior of my display tank. Based on the reviews here on this product, I decided to try it out. What appealed to me the most about this product is that you don't have to empty out your display tank to use it. I used the sander underwater and in about a half hour, the scratch was gone. The instructions are easy to follow! Use with confidence!

Great Product

Wow! This works even better than claimed! For me it worked best with a magnetic algae cleaner with a decent amount of patience. Follow the instructions and you can't go wrong! Work each grade of sandpaper longer than you think you should, as instructed; and by the time you get to the finest grade your acrylic tank will look beter than new.
