Marine Depot KleanWater 200 GPD Water Saver Upgrade Kit

The Marine Depot Kleanwater Water Saver Upgrade Kit allows you to add an additional TFC membrane to your existing RO or RO/DI system. The addition of the second membrane can achieve production rates up to a maximum of 200 gallons per day and reduce waste water production by as much as 66%.

There are two ways of installing this Membrane water saver kit

1) In Series - This method will reduce the overall waste water ratio of the unit. You will supply your new RO Membrane with the waste water from the previous RO membrane, so you have 2 RO membranes producing product water, but only one RO membrane creating waste water. Because you lose roughly 10psi across any RO membrane element, you MUST HAVE at least 60 psi at the feed of the first RO membrane. Marine Depot recommended.

2) In Parallel - With this method the product water and the waste water will be increased. The product water will be of better quality but you will be producing more waste water and going through pre-filters (Sediment and carbon blocks) much more quickly.

What`s Included

  • 100 GPD TFC RO Membrane
  • RO Membrane Hosing
  • 2 x RO Membrane Mounting Clips (Clips Mount to other RO membrane)
  • 3 x Quick Connect 1/4 T Fittings
  • 3 x Quick Connect 1/4 Elbow Fittings
  • Matching Flow Restrictor
  • Additional RO tubing

Tips and Tricks

  • Ensure the feed PSI into the RO system is no less than 60 psi.
  • Optimal Inlet Temp 77° F - (Please note that colder water will result in slower production and performance).
  • Consider using an RO Booster pump to increase production and RO membrane rejection if pressure is under 55 psi.
  • The use of softened water when available will minimize scaling on the RO membrane.

Manufacturer information

Marine Depot was started in 1998 by a self-professed reef geek and pre-med student Ken Wong. Ken envisioned a one-stop shop where customers could find everything they needed, from technical product specifications, reef aquarium information, expert advice on the hobby and friendly one-on-one customer support. Having grown from a one-man crew to being one of the world’s largest suppliers of reef and marine aquarium products, this very core philosophy still lives strong in the Marine Depot culture 20 years later.

No, I would not recommend this.

maybe i didnt understand the meaning of UPGRADE

Pros: water saving

Cons: space, time, resources but water, $

well i thought this was an upgrade not an extension - basically you are using the waste water to go through another membrane (same rated 100 gpd) - which will exhaust the membrane and DI resin faster! isnt it better to just get a 200 gallon rodi SYSTEM?

At first i was like im good with 100 gpd im not in a rush but then when you see all that waste water it hurts, so qith this extra membrane i doubled productivity and save a lot of water, very good upgrade for my ro/di system and my pockets.

Unbelievable Performance

Pros: Cuts water production time in half. Tremendously cuts the volume of waste water.

Cons: NONE!

If you have a 100 gpd ro/di system, just buy this upgrade. I was unaware of this upgrade option and found it by accident. I was skeptical about the claims, but this thing does exactly what the description says. It doubled the output of my MD ro/di system. It used to take 59 minutes to fill a 5 gal water tote. Now it takes 29 mins. I fill a 32 gal trash can full of water for the water change in my tank every week. This upgrade cuts the water production time in half and truly does reduce the volume of waste water. Best tank maintenance investment I have ever made!
