Ultra-Compact Biological Filtration Media

Maxspect’s Nano-Tech Bio-Blocks are a durable dense arrangement of small spheres creating an ultra-high surface area media which reduces the volume of bio-media actually required for efficient nutrient cycling in both fresh and saltwater aquariums and ponds.

This unique ceramic media has a cross-cutting surface area that creates an ideal surface for a dense populations of beneficial bacteria that remove ammonia and nitrites from aquariums water. Some systems may also notice a decrease in nitrates with prolong use.

Suitable for sumps, reactors trickle filters, wet/dry filters, hang on the back filters or directly in the tank.

The Maxspect Nano-Tech Bio-Media is developed using established technology borrowed from the sewage treatment industry with a proven record of nutrient removal of waste water. Instead of using mounds of costly live rock within the aquarium for biological surface we now have the option to regain more space and less weight in our aquariums and sumps.

Nano-Tech Bio-Block offers up to 300% the efficiency in treating water over other bio-medias twice its size. One box of Maxspect Bio-Blocks contains two separate blocks measuring 4 x 4 x 1 inch.

One box with two Bio-Blocks has a total surface area of over 23000 square feet. That is almost half a football field!!!

Yes, I would recommend this.

Compact and powerful!

Pros: Small

Cons: Only 2 sizes available

These are very small in size and absorb an incredible amount of water. I started using Marinepure Cermedia blocks before they were even accepted into the hobby 10 years ago. While great Cermedia crumbles after time. This media is solid and seems that it will stay together for some time.

Will help keep your tank in tip top shape

Pros: Helps maintain and habor a healthy bacterial population to ensure stable nitrogenous waste levels.

Cons: Can't fit more in the filtration chamber in my IM Nuvo Fusion 10

Back in September I upgraded from the IM Nuvo Nano 8 to the IM Nuvo Fusion 10 mainly because it was get a bit crowded and minor scratches to side panel.Rather risking a catastrophic mini cycle I ditched the sand and implemented the barebottom method.Taking this approach isn't without its disadvantages, because it would also result in a significant decrease in the biological carrying capacity of the system. To counteract this I added a @maxspect Nano-Tech Bio-Block, I can assure you that it works and won't crumble like other biological filter media in the market.Currently the IM Nuvo Fusion 10 is running at dkh 8.0-8.15 Calcium 430 Magnesium 1300 NO3 1ppm PO4 0ppm.I will do another update in the following months.
