This leak detection probe, when combined with the ALD (Advanced Leak Detection) Module, will enable your Apex System to alert on any leak or water on the floor.

This particular probe is weighted and is perfect for placing on any solid surface. Includes an 8` connection cable.

Up to four ALD probes can be connected to one ALD Module.

Nice piece of mind

Pros: Small, appears to be reliable, inexpensive insurance

If you own an APEX, why not have a little extra assurance that you tank is OK while you are away?

Added piece of mind

Pros: Great integration with Apex, cheap insurance

Cons: None

Added this to my Apex system so I could I piece of mind that if my ATO valves failed I could shut off the pumps. This pure insurance.

Yes, I would recommend this.

Awesome piece of mind

I originally bought two of these but ended up buying two more. Very sensitive and will detect small amounts of liquid. Wet your finger and touch it and it will close the circuit. I have one near my sump, one at the back of the tank where the overflow is (external) one near the reservoir and one near the RO unit. I definitely want to know if there are any leaks before it's too late.

Yes, I would recommend this.

Works like a charm

Purchased 2 Neptune Leak Detectors "Solid Surface" to put around my sump for my 180 gallon saltwater tank. The weight of the detector is perfect. Once you put it where you want it, it stays. You have to have the Neptune ALD Module for these detectors to work. Once I plugged them in, my Apex immediately recognized them as a switch in the "OPEN" status. Once it detects water, it will go to the closed status. If you programmed your switch, you can have it shut down equipment once water touches the detector. This is a must for anyone running a large fish tank.

Yes, I would recommend this.

Great except for longevity

I've had 2 of these in my stand on my 180 for 6 months now. They are super easy to install into the Apex system. They are very responsive to moisture (had one go off at 2am due to foam overflowing from my skimmer after using epoxy and not thinking about it!). The reason I knocked off a little in review is that even the salty moisture inside the stand is enough to corrode this thing. Once it has been wetted in saltwater or exposed to enough moisture to trigger it, it will no longer function. The screws holding the plastic body on have left rust stains where they were mounted and the thin metal detection surfaces have corroded away on one mounted too close to the sump. Overall, very good.
