Ocean Nutrition Feeding Frenzy Grid Feeder Clip

Ocean Nutrition Feeding Frenzy Grid Feeder Clip

$3.85

Item #: ON1131

In Stock

The "Feeding Frenzy" Grid Feeding Clip is the perfect tool for feeding Marine Butterfly fish and other "picky" or delicate feeding marine tropical. In the their natural coral reef environment, Marine Butterfly fish, Angels, Tangs and many others feed by picking throughout the day on surfaces of coral heads and live rocks. The Grid Feeding Clip helps to duplicate this natural feeding behavior by holding food intact and prolonging the feeding process so that fish are not forced to eat their entire day`s food in a five-minute rush. It also allows your fish to feed in this natural picking manner rather than eating food floating in the water column.

Fish with protruding snouts can actually pick pieces of food right through the openings of the plastic grid until the entire portion of food is devoured. This process prolongs the feeding period up to one hour and allows for much greater enjoyment for the hobbyist who wishes to observe this more natural feeding behavior.

Features:
  • Underwater feeding aid for “shy” fish.
  • Firmly grips or holds a defrosted cube of gel-based Frozen Formula Foods™ or a sheet of Seaweed Selects™
  • Excellent for butterflies and other picky feeders

Works great with one little modification

Pros: It just works and smaller footprint than my other algae feeder.

Cons: Had to modify a little, but an easy fix

I used 4 tiny tie-wraps just above the fold and in the middle on both sdes. Made a great pouch and didn't try to open the fairly weak clip part open anymore. Easy fix, now works fine. Tang was eating from it next day.

Great concept, flimsy design

I thought the concept was great. But it takes way too much seaweed to fill the net. The plastic clip isn't strong enough to keep the net secured. Fish didn't like it; I don't like it. Essentially I got a new seaweed clip (chucked the net) so I give it two stars.

Nice

This is a simply made feeding clip in which I placed my algae in. My tangs swam right up to it and immediately started to go to town on it, picking through the holes. Other clips don't have the grid which allows tangs or other algae eaters to pull or rip the algae right out of the clip. Doesn't happen with this one.

Why didnt I think of this

The is a great product at a great price. I have sat for ages watching my tangs tear off the algae from the clip. It made me wonder of the need for a clip at all. When I saw this I was skeptical. I have been using it for a week now and have been amazed...the fish seem to love it. I suspect because it "feels" more natural to them to be pecking. I highly recommend this clip.

grid

was hoping the grid would hold the seaweed to prevent the tang from biting it in half and having it float around the tank, but the tang still pulled the seaweed out from the side. May be better if grid was a pocket... may do some alterations of my own.

weak

I have to agree with the guys that say it is not strong enough to hold the grid. It didn't last long.

junk

This clip broke into many pieces the first time I went to put food in it after removing it from the wrapper. Don't buy it as you will walk away unhappy and with $3 dollars less in your pocket like I did.

Good Idea

This clip works well for picky eaters. If you have a tank full like I do you probably will want to leave the screen piece off and just use the clip. I like that you don't need to weight the clip, just place the algae in it and hang it from the tank top. Good to go!

Do not buy this clip

The clip doesn't hold the grid at all. As soon as the fish start picking at it, it pulls out of the clip.
