Algae Reactors

Aquarium algae, like bubble algae or green hair algae, is caused by excess nutrients. Remove algae by removing nutrients rather than adding a chemical fish tank algae remover. An algae reactor intentionally grows macro algae, like chaetomorpha, in a controlled area to absorb excess nutrients and heavy metals. The chaeto reactor is periodically pruned, removing the nutrients. An algae reactor is a space efficient way to manage algae. If run on a reverse daylight schedule, an algae reactor will also raise aquarium pH.

An aquarium algae reactor package usually includes: algae reactor, feed pump, led light for growing algae. Sometimes (extra) tubing and hose clamps are needed.
