Product Questions

Are the water depths described in details based on your tests? The directions say 7.9-8.7'' recommended, your page says 5-8''. I'm setting at 7.5 (just dosed bacteria, so not turning it on for a week) and wondering if I need to somehow shorten the riser I made for it while it was being shipped. Thanks guys!
Question by: Jacob Smith on Sep 12, 2020, 10:03 PM
Ours is based on our test, but a lot will come into play such as how much particulates are in your water. Keep it at 7.5" for now but you may need to make adjustments.

It is this skimmer (classic 152-s) resistant to ozone since I want to install an ozone equipment... Thanks

Will reef octopus classic 152 s 6" fit in crystal sump 30 trigger system. In skimmer section of sump area
Question by: Darin Schoen on Nov 27, 2017, 10:07 PM
Looking at the dimensions on the product pages, it does appear they will fit. It will be a tight fit on the long dimension of the skimmer, but you should have enough room.

Is there a difference between the 152 s and the 150 ins other than the pump being internal? Which would you recommend for a 120 gallon reef with a light/ medium bioload?
Question by: Brycen Rackham on May 29, 2017, 3:22 PM
The 150INT is meant going to feature a more traditional externally mounted pump setup, with a slightly larger footprint as a result. The 152-s is a space saving model with the pump mounted internally. This does sacrifice a little bit of performance to save space, and usually we'd recommend a skimmer with external pump as this is easier to maintain and also provides slightly improved internal flow dynamics. Both utilize an aquatrance pump and will likely perform similarly, so it may ultimately come down to your choice on the balance of features vs. size.

Have a great day!

What is the difference between the 152 s and 150 sss? I can't decide for my 100 gallon reef..... Thanks in advance.
Question by: William Rhodes on May 6, 2017, 9:52 PM
Hey there,
The 150sss is meant to maximize space-savings for very tight sump areas, with a footprint under 10" on both sides ( 7.3" x 9.5"). While the 152-s is also a space saving model with the pump mounted internally, it is somewhat larger. The benefit is that the 152 has the traditional wine bottle style body, as well as other popular features such as a collection cup drain port, air silencer with ozone port, and precision adjustment gate valve. Both utilize an aquatrance pump and will likely perform similarly, so it may ultimately come down to your choice on the balance of features vs. size.

Hope this helps!

Would this work with a mixed reef heavy bioload 125 gallon?
Question by: Brenden on Jun 8, 2016, 8:07 PM
This skimmer could work on a lighter bio-load 125. However with a heaver load we recommend a larger skimmer closer to 200 Gallon rated bio-load.
Answer by: Connor on Jun 9, 2016, 6:50 PM
Would this work on a 90 gallon mixed reef with a heavy bioload?
Question by: TJ on Apr 19, 2016, 6:57 PM
Great question!
This will work well with a 90 gallon tank. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
