Seachem Laboratories Matrix - 1 Liter

$11.55

Item #: SC3171

In Stock

SeaChem Matrix is a high porosity biomedia that provides efficient biofiltration for the removal of nitrogenous waste. Matrix is a porous inorganic solid about 10 mm in diameter. Each liter of Matrix provides as much surface (<162 m) as 40 liters of plastic balls! Plastic bio-materials provide only external surface area, whereas Matrix provides internal macroporous surface area. These macropores are ideally sized for the support of nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria. This allows Matrix, unlike other forms of biomedia, to remove nitrate along with ammonia and nitrite, simultaneously and in the same filter. Matrix is completely inert and will not breakdown. It need not be replaced. Use 1-2 Liters of Matrix for each 100 gallons. Since the majority of the bacteria are internal, Matrix may be rinsed when needed without damaging the filter. Matrix is compatible with all types of wet or wet-dry filters. Marine or freshwater use.

Perfect media.

Pros: Lots of surface area.

Cons: Dusty at first.

Love it. Has great surface area inside and out to grow all the beneficial bacteria you could ever need. Make sure you shake out all of the dust before placing in your media container.

matrix

Good media if you want a minimal aquascape. Cheap compared to others and doesn't leach anything like some other media does. Seems to work but haven't seen any denitrification happen.

Works

Pros: Easy to use

Cons: Not an overnight fix

Matrix works. Great replacement for tanks with little to no live rock.or if you just want add some additional surface area for bacteria to grow Takes time to work, so don't expect results overnight.

Great Bio Media

If you don't like the look of tons of live rock in the display and don't have alot of room in your sump, use this. It works great!

Well worth it

Pros: Affordable, works quick, lasts a long time, delivers on expectations

Cons: Directions didn't say to rinse off which I probably should have other than that I have no complaints

I wasn't sure as to the cause of my high nitrates. I have a 40 gallon all In one innovative marine cube. Only 2 fish but tons of corals. I use a ghost protein skimmer and filter socks which are changed out once every 5 days. I have way too many corals in that tank so perhaps they're excreting too much waste. Cut down my feedings and still nitrates were sky high around 80-100 ppm. I performed a 60% water change and used this item and wow what a difference. Within 2 hours post water change my nitrates were down to 10 ppm. Day 4 using it and my nitrates were basically nothing. This stuff really
Works as works fast. I just put about 1/4 of the bottle in a sack and tied it with twist ties. I can tell
It's working because my skimmer has a lot more junk instead of the clearer water. Great product cheap lasts a long time. Versatile as well. You can put this in your reactor. In your sump, filter or anywhere there is some flow in your tank. Will never use another product

Unbelievable

2 liters of Seachem Matrix fit perfectly in one of the baskets in my large Marineland canister filter. After researching the very best filter media for my canister, I added Seachem Matrix with a poly filter, RowaPhos, 2 Chemi Pure blue and a fine filter pad. This combo has made my already clear reef even clearer...unbelievable!

Very pleased!

II I am very pleased with the quality of this product! I was resigned to the long drudgery of waiting six weeks or so for my new reef to cycle. After only a few days with Matrix, the other wise skyrocketing nitrate not only leveled it dropped from approx. 10ppm to .25ppm in three days after adding Matrix. Good stuff!
