New pump

This was a replacement pump for my existing protein skimmer. It's working great and the old pump was this exact model

Good pump for the price

For the price it's hard to get more air flow, or SCF's, thru a skimmer. On my Dwyer air flow meter it measures out to about 25 feet attached to the skimmer body. Only issue is this will the third pump in about six years is service. Generally the problem I have experienced is the pump cord breaking free of the body. This is of course unfixable on a submersible pump. Trouble free and powerful while functioning

Sicce protein skimmer pump

My protein skimmer stopped working. Upon inspection, I realized that I needed a new pump. The sicce pump is exactly what I needed. It is powerful, quiet and my 210 gallon tank is crystal clear. I definetly recommend the sicce pump!

Good output. Average quality.

I bought this pump as a replacement for the Sicce that came with my Diablo skimmer. The original got fried. I am guessing the pump overheated because the rotor was cracked and the windings generated zero magnetic field. The pump does generate excellent foam. I am hoping the replacement is going to last more than 2 years.

Great product and service

It has only been a week, but the pump has worked so far. It had trouble starting up at first, but after I got it started it worked like it should. I hope it is better then the old psk 1000 that I am replacing it with. The old one died on me after 2 years. Not sure I want to be replacing these pumps every two years. Other then that this is a great skimmer pump.

Replacement

This is our second skimmer for our 185 gal.tank.This one is the best skimmer we have found! We had to replace the motor due to my negligence.I let the water level get below the intake and it burned up the motor. But this skimmer does an excellent job!

Sicce psk600

This pump was bought to replace my sedra 5000 on a euroreef 8-2. The sedra is a 500 gph pump and the sicce is a 661 so I expected a slight flow increase, but this pump comes no where near the claimed output levels. I compared the two and the sicce output is about 30% less than than a sedra with a swollen impellar (Note:needle wheel on the Sicce is about 40% smaller than on the sedra, if you look at the photo of the sicce you can get a idea of its size, the needle wheel barely extends past the intake hole). With the low flow also comes a low amount of air being pulled through the venturi (reused from the sedra, which I know I need to decrease its internal diameter since it will pull less on the sicce because of its low flow, so its not really a fair comparison), I do not have a meter to test the pull but since my skimmer has gone from being opaque with bubbles to translucent I assume its much less. With all those things comming together it is sorely underpowered for my skimmer, and I cant even raise the skimmer output tube high enough to compensate for the low flow. Now that I have sufficiently bashed the pump for its falsely advertised output levels, I will explain why I gave it 3 stars and not 0. The very small needle wheel does generate very small bubbles, this pump chops the bubbles so finely that I am having some of the steadiest best looking driest foam this skimmer has pulled (just not very much of it). It is also quiet and starts every time. So this pump is not nearly as powerful as claimed (though a larger needle wheel would solve that problem I think) but it does perform excellent if put on the right skimmer with a narrow neck (which is not mine), So my suggestion would be if you need a pump with 500 or greater gph output, look somewhere else but if you need less this is a very good pump.

Nice pump, rough install

I just installed this pump a couple of weeks ago. So far its much quieter than the PSK-2500. I am replacing the 2500 which went through ceramic shafts and bushings every 6 months. The 2500 was the stock pump on my Reef Octopus Protein Skimmer. I can't find replacement shafts and magnet assemblies any more. Tough install, as this is NOT a direct replacement for the PSK-2500. The intake is a smaller diameter, so the venturi nozzle would not fit. Also the gender of the output is reversed. My sump was an inch too small to allow a simple gender changer (female to female threaded fitting) so I had to use a threaded PVC elbow and place the pump on its side. I don't see replacement parts for this new pump yet. Hopefully it will last more than 6 months.
