Best ATO

I have tried a lot of differnt ATO out there and this one has worked the best for me so far. One mod i recomend is using a probe mount holder instead of the suction cups to hold it in place. I use this on my 12gal desk top reef tank to keep it top offed. I have a drews doser pump plugged into it and it keeps the salinity leaves steady.

Greater than 1" threshold

This product works and fills up to the same spot on the tube every time. The problem is that it takes way too much water level drop to reactivate this thing. My stop point is about 2 1/2" up the tube, and it will not reactivate until the tube literally comes completely out of the water. In my sump, that equates to almost 10 gallons of evaporation before the thing activates again. That is enough to cause my salt levels to rise from 1.026 to 1.028. It basically comes on every 4 1/2 days for me. I think I am going to cap off a piece of 1" pvc, drill a hole to fit the sensor tube into, seal it off, and use it that way. The additional air and water surface area trying to rise up the larger pvc tube will cause a higher pressure gradient when the water level changes. I may just not use their air tube at all and make my own pvc tube with air line to the pressure switch.

now what

Does what is says, but 1" of water level is not as precise as I needed. Especially for the price. I am already looking for a replacement.

Works Well

This is the perfect solution for people that use a small pump to move their RO/DI water from a storage container to their main tank. The controller switch itself is a little difficult to dial in, but once it's in place, it works well.

Not what I expected

Purchased this based on other reviews and have watched the level drop a full inch and so far, nothing. Also, I did not receive a new product as pictured on the website. What I received was already assembled in plain plastic bag with no instructions. A bit disappointing.

Very Simple to Use

This product has been working exactly as advertised for a few weeks. I am using it to control the daily transfer of top off water from one container to another. I set it up in about 5 minutes. I switched over to magnetic holders for the tube to make sure it wouldn't come loose and I use a timer as a backup to avoid a potential flood. The only minor detail is you need some way to mount the black box (I'm using velcro).

Simple and it works

I use this with a simple DIY top off system. The setup consists of a 5 gallon bucket, a Maxi-Jet 900 pump, and a tetra whisper air pump/stone (for aeration of resevoir water). Very easy to setup and much cheaper compared to other retail purpose built top off systems. The sensor suction cups work very well too. The whole thing works like a charm. My only complaint is that the water level varies more than I would have liked; about a 2" variance. Hence the water level in my sump isn't always in my skimmer's sweet spot. That could easily be addressed by using a baffle to separate the skimmer if my sump was big enough. Still much better than manual top offs which were a drag for me since I have a lot of evaporation.

It works...

No bells and wistles, just does what it's supposed to. My back-up fail safes are the pump is in a 5 gallon bucket and is on a timer(household lamp kind) so it only fills during the day. I will never overflow more than a gallon or so, if that's even a concern. Couldn't be more "plug & play".
